Anyone in the 9s want to be in the 8's ??

Finally tried out my running app this morning - loved it! I ran a mile in just under 10 mins and burnt 100 calories - is that any good? I have nothing to compare it to!

If it makes your heart race and gets you out of breath then it is good! The trick is to find the balance between speed and endurance - don't push yourself too hard speed wise because you'll bum more calories running for longer at a slower pace :) xx

Thanks :) going to go for a longer run tomorrow when I have a bit more time! Going to aim for 3 or 4 times a week. I thought I was going to be way slower! I did have to stop and walk for a minute though haha x

I still do - especially up hills! I run at about 6.5 min a km, and run 5km which usually takes me just over 30 mins. My pace is pretty slow but it gets my heart racing and find I can cope for longer.

Where did you run - Tarmac or field? I'd love to run before breakfast but it's better for me to go as soon as I get back from work so I'm not tempted to have a nap!

Good luck with running :) hope you enjoy it! X

I was on tarmac, there's big fields around where I live, but they're mostly crops, so I'm not sure it will be much appreciated if I start trampling over them! I intend to join the race for life in June this year, I'd like to think I'd be an established runner by then ;)

I only ran this morning cause I missed my train and had to get a later one! I would usually run in the evening and now I know its not as horrific as I thought, I might be more inclined to do so!!

Well done Charlie & DTS (what is your name?!) on the running front. Charlie's right, try to slow yourself down & go for a bit longer as you wont be able to keep up that pace for very long if you're a novice! Once you're well into your running, doing sprint work/fartlek will improve your running no end. My DH used to be my 'trainer' & would nearly kill me when we did fartlek training!!!

WI day today & another 2lb gone & 'outta' here!!! Chuffed with that as Im a notoriously slow loser & when I look at my stats Im all over the bloomin' place for no reason whats so ever....the gain of a pound last week I can only assume was EE not agreeing with me, so have had a mix this week like I usually do & it works well for me. Even tho I do sort of have a plan for the week, its not very structured as DH works away during the week, so I tend to eat whats left in the freezer......meals that I've bulked cooked like curry, bolognese, chili etc & just take out what I fancy in the morning. Weekends when he comes home, I always try & do something different as we're both 'foodies' & like different dishes & then make them SW friendly. DH is a fabulous support (ex chef), so we tend to cook together & he always checks with me first if the ingredient can be used......he can now cut a piece of LF cheese & know it will weigh 45g......but he will weigh it just to be sure lol!

My name is Annie :)

Thanks for the running advice girls!

Excellent news on your 2lbs! And its great that your hubby is so supportive x

Fantastic news Kim, and it's great that you cook together! I take the role of the cook as my OH is not very adventurous in the kitchen, but I like cooking so it's fine with me. The sun is just starting to poke through so will be lovely for my run later!

I make him take the roll of 'commie' chef, so he does all the chopping etc.....his knife skills are obviously better than mine!
Enjoy your run, its a bit windy & chilly here....roll on the summer! :)

I'm not too bad at chopping, my motto is that if I cook - he cleans up!

Weather was great on my run, I stole one of OH's football base layer top things and it was great - gonna get me down to Sports Direct and invest in a long sleeved running top. Can't wait for summer either!

Weigh-in day for me tomorrow!

Weigh in this morning said 8 stone 11.5 which means I've lost 1lb this week! I took some measurements and lost around an inch from all over :)

That's the attitude :)

Hello Ladyrose.
You are more than welcome to join us, but this is the Slimming World Forum.....would you be better off posting in the Atkins forum if you are following that eating plan? :)

I think it definitely is the running - I've been bitten by the bug! Getting OH to fix the bikes this weekend as the weather seems to be picking up, nothing better than a bike ride to the pub :p
