Hi all, just been totally p'd off by the BF who is going out having fun with his mates at a wedding tomorrow . I find weekends really hard on this diet ....feel like i'm missing out on the norm etc. I'm so tempted to go and buy a bottle of wine and drown my sorrows but managing to stick to water at the mo. How damaging would one glass be? its only my second week.

Stay strong!

There will be plenty more weddings to go to.

You have made a commitment to yourself, stick with it. Because you are worth it:)

Love Mini xxx

In the words of Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel, don't give up..cause you have friends!! Yes it is hard and you do feel sorry for yourself, but remember why you are doing this.

i too find weekends the hardest, i always feel better when i am back in work on monday but i always feel stronger knowing i got through it, just remember its only a short amount of time that you will be on this diet and it is so worth it when you start seeing results-much better than a glass of wine! stay strong x

Oh I kind of know how you feel, had a bad day at work today. I'm tired and hungry and could murder a glass of wine  The other half is also about to sit down to his dinner which smells like heaven. God what a day, better go for a bath then and drown my sorrows that way. Don't want to give in before the weigh in tomorrow:sigh:

I feel horrid today cant stomach my shakes just wanna eat!!!!!! ha ah not going to though

Hi hun,
you will only be on this diet for a short time compared to the rest of your life. If you stick to it properly you will reach your goal quickly, if you cheat you are only delaying what you are missing now. It will be worth it.
Alcohol is a no go when in ketosis hun :)

I know it is really hard....but Why cant you go??

You have to put yourself out in the real world, or you will miss out on all kinds of social events...either be honest with people about what you are doing or just say you are on medication or some excuse if yu are embarrassed.

You will have to face these situations eventually, I feel its better to do it while on LT and succeed, it feeds your confidence for the future in knowing that YOU are in CONTROL.

If you hibernate away while on LT how will you be able to cope when you are back in the real world??

I have just done 2 weeks, 13lbs off. Had our weekly poker night....every one nibbling snacks etc and drinking....me on iced tea and water...had BBQs...been in Italy for 4 days (work) but still socialised in the lovely restaurants, just drank coffee and water. It was tough, but I felt empowered knowing that I did it, and did not miss out on any of the fun of socialising....

Sorry to rant on, but I just want to share my feelings and give you hope!!

Go and have fun...just don't give up!!

Be positive and Happy

yes it's hard you think your world has come to a standstill but if you crumble and give in to temptation it will only be your weight thats at a standstill. be strong and think thin

Blondie's right what stopping you going out and enjoying yourself? So what if everyone else is having dinner and drinks, you dont need to eat or drink to enjoy yourself!

I was at an afters the other week and I sat there with pints of water and just let my hair down and said "SOD IT". You only live once and sacraficing some alcholol and food for a while will be worth it in the long term!

Stay strong hun xxx

Very bad could even be fatal...prob wouldnt effect your weight loss much ...but you could die SO NO NO NO read this
DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL IF YOU ARE KETOTIC!
Alcohol is a powerful inhibitor of gluconeogenesis. In fact, it forces part of the gluconeogenic metabolic process into reverse. This means that if all the glucose in the blood is being derived from gluconeogenesis then the consumption of alcohol will inevitably cause the blood glucose level to fall. Worse still, the alcohol also stops ketone body production, thus leaving the brain entirely without fuel.
A person who is ketotic is 100% reliant on gluconeogenesis to maintain adequate levels of glucose in the blood. If, under these circumstances alcohol is taken, the person will become disorientated and might lose consciousness, not just from the alcohol, but from low blood sugar. Needless to say, this could be very dangerous, and even fatal.
Alcohol does not have these effects if the glycogen stores in the liver are normal. Under these circumstances the blood glucose level in the blood is maintained by the breakdown of liver glycogen, a process that is not influenced by alcohol. If a person becomes confused under these circumstances it is due simply to the pharmacological effects of the alcohol
