They are the best vegetable ever. Just had one for lunch, steamed in a saucepan of boiling hot water with added lemon slices and garlic cloves and then I served with a balsamic mayonnaise (extra light mayo mixed with balsamic vinegar).

You just pull the leaves off, dip them in the mayo, and then pull the pulp off, by placing the leaf in your mouth, bitting down on it and pulling it out of your mouth, if that makes sense lol, you then get the delicious pulp in your mouth. Once you get down to the heart, using a spoon you just wipe away the hairs and eat the flesh of the heart. (the best bit)

See....things with 'hairs' in the heart scare me! LOL

I must try fresh ones sometime though as I like the tinned ones. I'm just always scared of how to prepare them!
Thats good news. I love them with sun dried tomatos and bacon and pasta ... num, num!
