a new way of living!
Hi all,
well this afternoon I was shopping at the local poundland in Exeter, and as usual, stocking up on handwash, batteries, shower gel, etc, picking up the odd little thing that i fancied (like a tai chi book and dvd set for just £1!) anyway, they had a large section of easter eggs, just the little ones for kids (65g egg).
well - I LOVE easter egg chocolate, a few years ago I put on quite a lot of weight after going mad on them for several weeks (and I mean MAD!) so I thought it may be nice to 'get one in' so I could enjoy a little every now and then, it was a malteasers one, about 174 cals for half an egg, so I thought, 'oh thats ok if I eat half an egg, i can balance that in my day.....'
so fast forward 20 mins, I am in the car, with the egg on the passenger seat, pulling bits off as I am driving (dont try this at home) when I suddenly reaslised I had fiished off the lot! (except the mini malteasers bag) and suddenly started feeling really sick.
so I did what I usually do if I feel sick... ate it away with a few mints and a protein bar meal replacement (chocolate flavoured...) and did feel better.
So i pop t sainsburys, pick up my shopping and a banana to get rid of the last little sick feeling, and some water, and come home.
obviously by the time I get home, I am thinking 'omg, all those calories, plus the orange juice i got too, all that sugar, all empty of any nutrition' blah blah.
it was all i have had aside from cereal this morning, so I can see where I went wrong (should have bought that hot pork sarnie I was trying to be good by avoiding!).
so - rahter than thinking, blow it today, its gone, lets stuff ourself silly and start again tomorrow, i entered in all the calories on my food diary at weight loss resources, then did my usual WII fit routine, added the exercise, cringe as I looked at the calories that it said I had left...
and realiased that I have just under 400 left (with 200 ish from the wii fit included in that), more than enough for dinner tonight, :O) I am just really pleased that when I have a moment now, I just move on and get right back on track, be honest and track it all, and try to improve as I go and try and lessen the naughty days.
I wanted to share as sometimes (and I think most of us have done it at some point) we have had something off plan or 'unhealthy' and decided to blow the day out and then gone on to eat load more calories out of self hatred and self disgust, when in reality, if we actually look at what we have done, although its not 'ideal' its often not as bad as we thought either.
I am so much happier counting calories than I am WW points or SW syns, as this way I can really track what damage my bad days are doing and be realistic about recovering from them, without developing an 'all or nothing' attitude to my diet.
it is quite a relevation and I had to share! :O)
