I hate it when this happens, not only is it codswallop but I also get bombarded with people thinking they are dietitians trying to talk me out of it!

I just read the Daily Mail article and then tried to read the research article it is based on in the BMJ. Sadly the BMJ article is available by subscription only. I have been able to read the comments left on the BMJ article though and someone makes the point that the research was into a low carb, high protein diet not the low carb, high fat diet that Atkins is.

From what I can tell, this study is an epidemiological one - and it really isn't possible to draw conclusions like this from anything other than an intervention study. Bad science!

I guess we all need to go back to being morbidly obese seeing as there's no hope for us on the Atkins diet.
