Avacado ideas!!

    a) how to cook one (is it a fruit or veg?!)

    or

    b) What to have it with

    any ideas appreciative :p

    I used to love avacados, but I think they've got syns, have they not?
    I just liked them how they were, scopped out and eaten with a teaspoon.

    mmmmm... I love avacado, like them on thier own, or in a salad, I would like to know syns value of these as imagine they must be high.

    .. but for future reference, don't cook it! Yes it is high syn, but the oils in it are very healthy oils, so a little bit every now and then is good for you.

    An avocado (full name avocado pear) is a stone fruit, although more commonly eaten in savoury meals.

    Cut it in half top to bottom (there is a very large stone in the middle, cut around it) and pull the two halves apart. The stone will stay in one half - put a knife into it to twist it out (you could plant this and grow an avocado tree, but thats another story).

    use a desert spoon to remove the skin - you should find the spoon fits just next to the skin - usually easy if it is ripe. Then slice or dice and eat fairly straight away as it discolours rapidly:

    try it:
    on a salad with bacon bits
    mashed in a recipe for guacamole
    keep the half whole and fill with prawns
