Aversion To Carbs But...

I have PCOS and have done since I was 15. I like red days, but have 2 days a week that are either green or EE. I like to have eggs, chips and mushy peas on the eve of the first green/EE day, usually after 3 red days, then the other day is definitely EE, that's usually a Sunday and it's so I can have my Sunday dinner.

I do get a horrible bloat on the day I have that's green usually a Thursday, but it makes the red day hunger go away for the next two days, usually making my red days cheaper because i'm not eating tons of chicken!

Well judging by your weight loss you're obviously doing something very right so I'm quite convinced that a couple of green days a week won't harm my weekly losses! I shall have to take Colpermin on those days to sort out the bloating

The bloating isn't massively uncomfortable, just a bit unpleasant, but maybe i've just gotten used to it. My weight loss has been a long slow process, going on four years now. But us PCOSers have to do it the long hard slow way!

I also echo was Britmum says and go for the wholewheat alternatives wherever possible. I couldn't do without my occasional wholewheat pasta - although I do like to have the odd cheese and broccoli pasta n sauce! I put extra wholewheat pasta in it and add 2 HEAs of cheese and put real cooked broccoli in it with some fry lighted red onions and mushrooms to make a decent meal for 2.

I think the fact that you have persevered for four years is amazing and makes the loss so much more incredible. PCOS is awful - beards, no periods, no kids and harder to lose weight! Grrrrrr! Do you / have you taken metformin to help?

Once I lost around 60lbs, my periods started again. I now have periods, mostly light but have a really heavy painful one about every three months. I take dianette and used to have mefanamic acid but don't really like the side effects.

I do manage these days with paracetamol and very limited Ibuprofen (they do your tummy no good). When you get the weight off it will become easier to manage. You'll get there. Start to do some light exercise, it will really really help. Even if it's just a walk around the block every evening before dinner.

I don't drive and have a VERY active job so the exercise bit has always been quite often for me but perhaps I need to now up the ante? Problem I have is sciatica and plantar fasciitis and not being brave enough to go to the public swimming baths!!

Ibuprofen affects me really badly as does doclofenac which I was prescribed for plantar fasciitis and sciatica so I try and grit my teeth or go for paracetemol :(

I am into my 3rd month on metformin, I have been prescribed it by my fertility specialist more for my infertility issues rather than the weight loss side of it though. My diagnosis was all a bit of shock a few months back actually, as I conceived my son no problems in the first month of trying, but second time round has been stressful, the only time I did manage to get pregnant I lost the baby (the end of last year). So I am hoping the metformin will help me to conceive, as we having been trying for no2 since Jan 2008 now.

I do also think the metformin is helping with the weight loss, as my appetitie has definately decreased, only downside is I have also been getting some food aversions too.

Has it made you have periods? Within a month of taking it I start getting periods so I stop  However it DOES really help with weight loss and fertility.

Well of course I want to see my periods because I am ttc lol, although of course each month I hope not to see the old bag because I want to be pregnant lol, so can't win either way. My cycles luckily were not too bad, but the metformin has helped regulate them to a normal 28 days so far. Luckily I haven't had too many side effects from it. I am on the slow release tablets which are meant to be kinder on the stomach anyway.
