    Hi Everybody,

I'm back for my 4th attempt at CD. Did SS for 13 weeks on 2006 and lost 7 stone. Gained 4 stone over the following 9 months and then lost 4 stone again on SS. Then gained 2 stone 5 pounds and then lost 26 pounds. Since then I have put on 37 pounds again. So I am still a little over 4 stone lighter than I was 2 years ago, but am still atleast 4 stone overweight and yoyoing ridiculously

It's strange, but I can maintain for about 2-3 months and be completely focussed and not even consider binging, then suddenly I just lose it and go back to my old ways, I have tried hypnotism and have been seeing a specilaist for the past 3 months, as well as reading lots of books - nothing works! So I will be back on SS on 6th October, probnably for 5-6 weeks. Look forward to seeing you all round.

Hi, Have you read 'Eating Less: Say goodbye to overeating' by Gillian Riley? I have been reading it and it really covers this cycle of control and loss of control. Might help. I'm hoping it will help me at the end of my journey!

I Haven't read that one, I'll have a look - ta. I'm currently reading You CAN be thin by Marissa Peer, it's really good and makes total sense, I just can't put any of it into practice!

Hiya Big H :) I'm going to stick my neck out here. Hope I don't offend...just speaking from personal experience.

Fab. You are getting better and better at this weight management malarky

2-3 months. Yep...that was about the length of my 'focus'. But why? I guess that gives you just enough time to start getting bored with maintaining, and enough time to start feeling really confident that you have cracked it ;)
    Well..guess they do work really.

Yep, I too read all the books. Didn't see a specialist, but it wouldn't have made much difference to me I don't think.

See....I read chapter 1,2 and 3. Thought 'fantastic...great advice...even doable', then tucked into my crisps whilst I read chapter 4,5 and 6.

Reading about it is easy. Unfortunately, you have to practice it. That was the bit I was so reluctant to do. Spent too much time researching. Didn't have time to put it into practice :D

    Getting back to the binge.

Umm. That's what I thought I was doing, but it doesn't happen like that. You don't just go back into your old ways. You do it once, then chose to do it again, then chose to do it again etc etc.

Every single time was a choice. You could have chosen to return to your new ways each time, but for some reason you didn't. I've been guilty in the past of doing that...and promise...not here to judge or condemn..just help you think it through.

A binge is nothing. It's what happens after a binge that matters. Whether you can learn from it and continue to practice this new way of life or whether you do the "I blew it" and reinforce your sense of failure and disappointment. Whether you say "Okay. Why did I do that....how interesting;)...big pause..., now back to what I need to do" or if you say "I've blown it now...oh what the heck...I might as well go for it big time".

So instead of slipping into the road and getting back up again, we lay down right in the middle of the road and wonder if the bus will come shortly to mow us over.

Anyway. Major ramble as usual, but hopefully something useful there.

Best of luck with your restart. Keep working at the maintenance bit though. Took me a few goes to get it right.

Thanks a lot for your advice, it all rings very true with me. Made me laugh about eating the crisps with the book, becuase I do exactly the same, and as for the 'I've blown it' mentality that is exactly me. If I put on half a stone I feel like I have blown everything, so I may aswell just keep on blowing it. My rational brain knows all of this but my subconscious is evil  and always seems to override logic. But I'll get there eventually

    Thanks again
