Been for my pre op :)

there is somevidence that VLCD can slow the healing process and also increase risk of infection ( or the bodies ability to fight it ) here are a few extracts from wikepedia -
Some specialists believe that calorie restriction may slow the healing time of the wounds which may have great impacts on the individual's overall health in case of hazard accidents or surgery.[citation needed]
Moreover, calorie restriction has been reported in mice to hinder their ability to fight infection, and some evidence suggests that in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis calorie restriction accelerates the onset of the disease.[23]

just for your info

If the docs say I should be nearly healed after a week would a week on plan 3 be okay then back on ss?
Thing is I don't trust myself eating! I know once I start I can't stop and I'm so scared that il put weight on and not get back into the frame of mind I am now :,(

I imagine the last thing you would want after bajingo surgery is an infection

You need to get your CDC to talk to the medical dept at Headquarters. You cannot go on a plan after an op without their permission if its within 3 months.
They may tailor a plan for you over the next few weeks but to be perfectly honest, your doctor does not work for Cambridge and the medical department is really the one you need. Do it the right way and don't put your health at risk. :)

I would wait at least a week and if you are pretty well healed then you could go back down , but I really dont think doing SS straight after is the best idea hun .. only thinking of you and as starlit cazza said you really dont want an infection !! I know its hard but if you can stick to SS I am sure you can stick to 1000 or at least 810 ??
does your CDC know about the surgery ?

Kimmie -

It sounds like everyone really cares about what is best for you. No one is trying to make your decisions for you. I think you mentioned delaying the op until after you've lost the weight and had your holiday -- and maybe that would be the best option (unless you think that the NHS won't give the op at a later date).

My friend was booked for female surgery (partial hysterectomy and bladder lift) in March and she talked to her surgeon about doing CD (she hadn't started, yet). He said, "The more weight you can lose before the operation the better, no reason to come off before the operation and afterwards we'll see how you are doing and I'll let you know when I think it is okay for you to return to a VLCD."

But, then he was looking over her GP visit notes and said, "You've had several high blood pressure readings, which weight loss should help lower; however, I am cancelling your surgery for the moment and sending you back to your GP to have this sorted. I am not willing to operate on you for an elective procedure with your blood pressure situation. In the meantime, lose as much weight as possible and work on your overall fitness and I'll see you when you are in good shape for the operation."

She was very distressed over not getting surgery when she expected, but I told her, "Do you want to risk a stroke or death? You should listen to your doctor." And, so she is doing an Atkins diet for the moment, will see her GP next Friday to get a note for her CDC (so she can start on 810) and started walking 5 to 10k yesterday morning.

She is going to do as her doctor advises her.

Good Luck, Kimmie -- if you do have your op, I wish I could be there with you (I know you're very anxious).

I don't have high blood pressure ect and in a healthy state, no option of changing date now as it's a week on Tuesday. Its not an "inside op" it's just on my floo floo lol if I have the op under epidural would I be okay to go back on as I wouldn't be under g.a?

you will still be at higher risk of infection and delayed healing , the method of anesthetic isnt really an issue as such . Its your risk to take and your decision to make

I think it is highly unlikely they will do it under epidural if it is day surgery as it means they will have to keep you in longer, which costs them more money. If they knock you out they can get you home the same day.

To be honest, the ONLY advice you should take is that of your doctor.

There's a reason why they're trained medical professionals.

And my doc said it's fine? But I'm goin to see my GP on Monday and ask :) cause I need my emla cream lol

This is not something your GP can advise on. See my previous post. Your GP does not work for Cambridge and therefore your cambridge consultant should be talking to Cambridge medical team to work out something for you.

did you actually tell the dr how many calories you have a day ?? I still dont think that a surgeon is an expert in VLCD's , thats why cambridge have their own medical team

My thoughts exactly. And agree.
