Hi Beki, just flicking through your diary and noticed that on a few occassions you don't eat breakfast, is this because you don't feel like eating it or is it for any other reason?
Sorry if you think that I am intruding but many stories I have heard are that people achieve a greater weight loss by eating breakfast, something like it kick starts your metabolism :D

A couple of reasons i don't eat breakfast really -

1. i usually can't face eating anything first thing in the morning

2. i don't usually get hungry until about mid-morning

3. the earlier i start eating, the hungrier i tend to get throughout the day, so end up eating a lot more

I know theoretically i should eat brekkie, but i just can't bring myself to some days  lol

I recieved a PM this morning asking why i don't eat more fruit and veg, and as i haven't got the time to write a thorough reply, i thought i'd do it on here, while i write my food diary :)

Basically i LOVE fruit and veg. In fact i'd rather sit down with a plate of brussel sprouts and gravy than roast potatoes and gravy (and that isn't an exaggeration!!! lol).

However, the last couple of months we've really had to tighten our belts as we booked a holiday and realised we had less time to pay for it than we realised  and it now has to be paid by 5th november.

So just for example, a bag of pasta and a can of toms will feed the whole family. A sack of potatoes will last for SO many meals and can be used in lots of different ways (plus we have a free supply of eggs from our chooks to go with anything). While a head of broccoli would cost more than the pasta and toms, and more than a family meal's worth of potatoes, but would only be enough as an accompaniment.

It's only until november, then i'll be back to normal eating lots of veg (not so into fruit but eat it occasionally).

Ok, today's planned menu -

Breakfast -

shape yoghurt

Lunch -

mug shot & some syn free potato wedges

Dinner -

sausage pasta - pasta, passata, tom puree, 2 x cauldron sausages (3 ysns) and grated cheese (HEb)

Snacks/other -

500ml semi skimmed milk (2 x HEa)
shape yoghurt
2 x alpen light bars (HEb)

Will probably add some more in the way of syns later :)

Weigh in day today and lost exactly the same as last week - 3.2lb :D

Today's menu -

Breakfast -

alpen light bar (1/2 HEb)
shape yoghurt

Lunch -

mug shot
alpen light bar (1/2 HEb)
shap yoghurt

Dinner -

syn-free potato wedges
fried egg (frylight)
2 x quorn sausages
2tblsp tomato ketchup (2 syns)

Snacks/other -

500ml semi-skimmed milk (2 x HEa)
wispa choc bar (11 syns)

i've decided to allow myself between 10-15 syns a day, instead of keeping them as low as possible. i think this will give me a better chance of sticking to plan longer term. i also don't have to put too much pressure on myself, as i have to lose 17lb in 13 weeks - any more is a bonus :)

ended up having 28g cheese, and an alpen bar in the evening, taking me to 22.5 syns for the day

hi, I noticed earlier in this thread you mention allowing yourself more syns instead of limiting them to just a few, is this working better for you? I'm finding it quite hard to use my syns and i'm not sure if thats because i'm eating enough without them or if subconsiously i'm thinking i'll lose more weight this way? Also what else do you use quark for other than scrambled egg?(i've never used it before thinking of giving it a try) your diary's looking good, you've given me a few ideas thanks!

i'm finding that having 10-15 syns a day is working better for me than trying to keep them to a minimum. i don't feel so deprived, and the weight still seems to be coming off so i'm really happy :D

i use quark in place of cream cheese, for things like ryvita, mixing with mashed potato, topping a jacket potato with some tuna mixed in, adding it to pasta to make a creamy sauce (add while drained pasta's still hot though)... it has endless uses!

tesco didn't have any yesterday, so i'm having to either HEb my cream cheese, or syn it :(

Keep up the great work. Where are you going on holiday? x
