Good morning everyone

I am up early if not bright. I am very worried about my little cat. She is going on 14 years old and very thin and not eating much. We've been here before with cats and I fear a visit to the vet this week may be a final one :wave_cry: She still greets us in the morning and is always ready for a cuddle She is our last cat and VERY special.

I was very good yesterday and didn't have anything I shouldn't have so at some point my scales may return home to me without fear.

That's so sad about little kitty Gem. I still miss my ball of fur and it's 8 months since he went. 14 is a very respectable age for a cat

My first cat was 17 when we lost her and we had her from when she was the runt of the litter someone was going to drown. Then our second cat was nearly 18 and had 2 years on borrowed time. The next 2 I am unsure about as I didn't really know how old they were cos they chose to live with me. Poppy has been with me for (I think) about 6 or 7 years. She started life with my eldest daughter in Bristol and moved all over the place. She lived in a flat, house, bungalow and caravans in Cornwall and eventually came to live with me when the site my daughter was living on had a "no pets" policy.

Poppy was a wild little thing when she came to me but constantly wanted to cuddle me and suck whatever top I was wearing - she would climb up my legs to get into my arms. Poppy turned into the sweetest of cats and has given us SO much in the years she has been with us - only a few weeks ago on my birthday she was waiting for me to roll up ferrero wrappers into a ball (her favourite wrappers and she knows when you're eating them) and chasing them when I threw them.

If she needs to go I will do what I have to with a heavy heart but it won't be easy x

Sounds like you have given her some much needed care in the last 6-7 years. You have lots of good memories with her.

oh gem i'm so so sorry to hear that. we have had many cats over the years but none into such old age. i really feel for you. thomas's cat in denmark is about 16 now and every time we visit he gets told that this might be the last time. since we aren't going back until this christmas it might really have been true on this occasion and it's so so sad.

Poppy is such a lovely name for a cat i like it.

My daughter named her Poppy and she is such a beauty. I will find a picture later and post it so you can see who I'm talking about. She's a petite short haired tabby with the sweetest of faces x

Shhhh........ everyone. Don't let Gemstone know I'm here. I don't want her gallumping all over me with all those squatters on board :argh:

Every morning she sits on the loo then gets in the shower then brushes her teeth :brushing teeth:Then...... she stands on little old Me WITH NOTHING ON :yuk: No-one, not even scales, should have to put up with THAT - It's SO embarassing and enough to make you sick :drool: I have a very delicate disposition you know!!!!

Anyhow, if that's Gemstone coming, I'm outa here
