Big Boys Need Love Too!

I worked with a child when I was going round to different schools who I was told sprawled and invaded other peoples space. The teacher hadn't even realised he was a lefty and put him on the right of his neighbour who was right handed - hence the clash of space. You would be surprised how many teachers have no idea which pupils are left handed and how to overcome the issues arising. x
I used to get that all the time. I would be sat on the right of people and my writing wuld be a mess then when I was put on my own in the naughty seat for being messy and I would write how I was comfortable and my writing was much better and my teacher would say "See, you do much better when you are on your own cus you are concentrating on your work more. Maybe you should sit on your own more often!"

When I was working in a school we had a lot of lefty's in my class so I done an information pack for the parents with activities for the parents to do so they could understand what it is like for a lefty in a righty world.

If the world was lefty orientated clocks WOULD go the other way, books would open the other way and we would write right to left not left to right.

:character00238: Good morning everyone :character00238:

Mr Sun is peeping throught this morning, not windy like last night (not me, the weather duh)

Taz - Bet the book was a useful insight to parents and teachers alike. It really annoys me when professionals don't see what's right in front of their noses. How can you fail to notice that two children next to each other write with different hands and that one is bound to impact on the other?

Tyn - sorry to hear you are still having computer probs. I hope they resolve soon :sigh:

Silence - I have been trawling throught the deep mists of my brain and I am sure Dan Brown touched on the big bang loop thing in (I think?) Angels and Demons. There was something about Religious Scientists uniting science and religion - Do you know if I'm right? It was a few years ago that I read it

MzMonday - I'm glad you're joining us on Big Boys on a regular basis :welcome: Actually this thread is probably the real black hole - once you fall in you'll never get back out - but we love it :)

Elle - Come on, we know you're back - stop hiding :p

Well, I will mail my hubby about it and see what he suggests. I'm in a series of meetings until around 2pm today so I'll do my best to get you an answer.

As to the game comment that I am highlighting...it's not warhammer online, is it? Tell me it's not. Play Age of Conan, it's so much better in the graphics department. I beta tested for Warhammer Online and I just really didn't like it.

Yep its Warhammer! lol. I am staying FAR away from AOC, just on the pure fact the amount of problems and the sheer fact the company released it when it was far from done, nah

Warhammer is my baby, i have been waiting for it since it was announced! I can't wait hehe. I played just over a day of beta before the stupid computer broke, so now i have tasted it, and i want more!!!

Oh and the graphics are being steadily upgraded, they can't make them perfect because you have to render ALOT of people all at once at higher levels in RVR, so the lower end machines would cry if it was insane graphics! But i admit they do need to be made alot more pretty!

Morning All.

Another day another late night. Yawn!

I had a nice time last night but didn't get in until after twenty-to-one last night/ this morning. I'll be glad when this week is over.

Think there might be some squatters after all the socialising this week. I dare not get on the scales to find out. Still, today is another day etc etc and I have four days til weigh in so I may never really know.

Hope you all have a nice day. I'm out again tonight but might be on late. x

See, I’m a gamer from the time when Ever Quest was really the only MMORPG on the market. I was 17 (so 10 years ago, gosh I feel old!) when I got a machine built specifically to play Ever Quest – it took a full summer of working full time before I could afford it. Since then I have played EQII (way too cartoon in graphics), World of Warcraft (cartoon graphics + level cap within 2 months) Vanguard (mass bugs, but the graphics were pretty good...) and now Age of Conan. Of all since the original EQ, I have to say Age of Conan is the best; still not as good as the original Ever Quest, but I just can’t get over the graphics. I am so superficial when it comes to my games. I have to ask, is Warhammer online mainly going to be PVP?

Hubby, by the by, said that most likely your power supply isn’t strong enough to support what you have and that “something” is faulty. Short of getting his hands on the machine and playing around with it, that’s the best he can do. That’s why I don’t build my own machines, I have a dell (for shame!) and I love it. I wish you luck with your PC.

I never got to play EQ1, my computer was never good enough to run it, so i didnt start playing them until DAOC myself, fell in love with it and played for years. Then i tried EQ2, and i didn't like it one bit at all, only lasted my first month. Then i have spent the last 4 years playing COH/V, which got really boring recently! And now i am in love with WAR!

And to the power thing, i don't understand why, its an EarthWatt 500wat power supply, and the only thing that could be putting a drain on the system is the single graphics card.

I am going to pop around to the post office i think and get it sent back and then if the new one is the same, i will have to pay cash to send it into the shop and have them fix it :-( This computer isn't half costing me some money!! lol

If anyone wants to see my 'Angry Face' now is the time. See.. this is my angry face!

Argh! I don't know what i just did, but i let took out one of the plugs i usually put into the mother board, and ... it worked.

But i am not going to do try it with everything back in until i know i am sure i am not going to make me explode, or even worse, IT explode.

Its not my power supply thats for sure, i was about to walk out of my room with my neat little box to send back, then i thought.. screw it once more.

So i opened the box, and just connected the power supply directly to its motherboard, i don't have the connectors to use it on the HDD or the Graphics card (dont know why!) but the CPU started to whizz around like a good little trooper. So i frowned, threw my coat on my bed and got comfortable!

The difference between the two is that on my new motherboard, it requires all the pins in the power supply, but on the old one, it only takes some, and then there is a 4 thing at the end that bends, and it doesn't use them. No idea why.

So i plug it into my old like normal, only i have an extra 4 pin hole near the CPU that i plugged in.. no idea what it does but it was there, i had a connector that fit, so i plugged it in.

No graphics card in the machine, 1 stick of Ram, sighed, turned it on, it turned once, waited a second then powered up. After getting that sickly wohoo feeling, i turned it right back off, just incase! lol

So... do i plug it all back in, ignoreing the extra 4 pin thing that seems to have stoped it?

In less babble speech:

My new motherboard has a 24pin ATX, and a ATX_12V. My old Motherboard only has space for it looks like 20pins of the ATX but no 12V. On the new motherboard, when i plug in both ATX and the ATX_12V it is naughty, when i only plug in the ATX it is nice..

hi everyone. sounds like things are going hunky dory for everyone :)

well i am here in not so sunny denmark writing on a keyboard with a æ a ø and a å on it so i apologise if i make mistakes but half the keys are in the wrong place, ha.

tyn, i'm sorry you're having issues with your pc. my guess was also the psu but without being able to see it i don't want to risk giving you any advice, there seem to be enough people around who know what they are doing :)

elle. it's great to have you back :)

everyone. howdy. ha. i am working hard on gaining all the weight i have lost, ha. but my size 18s still fit so far so i'm crossing my fingers that it won't be so bad. OH is downstairs watching chuck norris in delta force so i thought i would come and see what you were all up to. we haven't done anything remarkable. but we have caught up with a lot of people and everyone wants to take us out to eat, hence the weight gain. ah well. it will go again.

i'll try and pop on again in a couple of days.

abz xx

Abz! Check the edit at the end, sorry for mass posting, i am just really wanting to get this fixed! hehe, and yes give advice! :)

did it work when you first set it up tyn? or did it not work from the start...

i'm off for now. i should go and join the OH with chuck, ha. but i would be tempted to send back the psu in any case...

i'll have a think, but like i said. i'm not that hot on hardware and without seeing it and having a play i'm a bit tentative on dishing out help. somebody will know :) keep on googlin'

abz xx

Thanks abz!!

And yea, it worked from the start, worked for just over a week and then stopped.

Some folks are saying that the PSU isn't strong enough in the first place to run my stuff, which isn't thrilling lol. Remind me to kill my mate laters!

Well, i have narrowed it down, the 12v plug seems to be whats stopped the computer from starting up... hmm interesting..

:bliss:Yay Abz - all the way from Denmark - Great to have you around again. Bit of a difficult day today. Mum not too good and lots of paperwork to do at home. Going out tonight though to play some music. Only 2 weeks until the acoustic festival I'm playing at so the more singing and playing the better at the moment. Looking forward to playing.

hey Gem, my mom and dad (step) are both left handed as well as my cousin. My mom has great handwriting....cousin...can't say. But I would say that it was hard for him in school when he was about 7 they were trying to force him to write with this right, and even kept him back a year in school becuase he wouldn't/couldn't write with his right. He was punished and also made to be by himself, luckily my auntie has some gump-shun about her and she told the principle off and they stopped. But it was hard for him. And I know my mom had some problems too, but I think that it was down to spanish being her first language and then it was the left hand thing.

Tyn, Glad you are trying to suss things out. Good luck.

Abz, glad you're having a good time, but still fitting into those 18's.

Well, I haven't some worrying news lastnight which is going to really effect our lives, but after we talked about it all...it looks like what we thought would be disaster may not be so bad after all....so fingers crossed things are ok in the first place.

LU has been super clingy to me at the moment. Twice this week at nursery he has been crying because he wants to be with me...and relaly upsetting himself. He is saying he doesn't want to be at nursery that he wants to be with me. And he did the same thing tonight at his nana's was happy to be there most of the day with her, but wanted to sleep in his own bed and me near me. Not too sure what I should do really for the best. Part of me wants to just say ok, he has a lot of changes going on right now with going to nursery and the baby, and if he isn't ready, than he can just go to groups when I am there and wait till he is 4 when maybe he will be more mature. But then the other half of me thinks...he needs to be away and spend time with other kids and it is only 2.5 hours 3 days a week. But I am not sure...I am doing what I can to reassure him, and he runs from me when he goes in so he can play...it is just after the novelty of it all wears off after an hour he just gets upset and wants me....

Eating...well the last 2 days I lost a bit of weight....not sure how, I had 50 syns yesterday...the biscuits got a bashing but I was good other than that. Because of the news yesterday, I havehad the runs today, I think with worry. And I couldn't eat this morning...so I didn't eat till 1 pm, when I had somoe Mock tuna salad ( made with chickpeas and not tuna) it was ok...edible is all I can say. I ate that with some ryvitas and that is all up to this point. Then I took a 2 hour nap this afternoon. Again I think it is the pg as well as my lack of sleep for worrying. I am sure all will be ok. OH is working so hard at the minute and I just hope our plans work or there will be some big changes coming.

Anyway all....well I will speak to you in a bit. I need to out LU to bed and get some dinner so speak soon.

Jenn

Oh Jenn, I hope everything turns out ok for you and OH. Try not to worry too much until you know what you are dealing with. It may well not be as bad as you think. Amazing that you lost a little with all the eating AND the pregnancy. I reckon it will be just the two squatter pounds off tomorrow morning and the ticker will stay where it is until next week (especially as I am out tonight and may well succumb to a guinness after a really good day x

Yeah something like that... part of the book was setin CERN, where the particle accelerator is. I can't remember the details of the book...

Yeah I agree... this thread... just a black hole even sucks up time!!!

~Silence~

And we fall into it every time don't we Silence. Thanks for the info - I thought that was what was in the book but I couldn't remember the details either - enjoyed reading Dan Brown's books.

Just got back from an open mike session in Bristol - a bit noisy as it is in a private members club where not everyone comes to listen to the music but some very good acts on - very good practice too. Mr Guinness was lurking behind the bar and I was smitten by his charms. I hope he's not done any harm to my weigh in tomorrow. x

Morning all!
How was the WI Gem? Bet Mr Guinness wasn't all that harmful! Did you have fun?
And yeah, I loved the Dan Brown books... i thought Angels and Demons was much better than The Da Vinci Code!!!

Have a nice day everyone!

~Silence~

:character00238: Good morning everyone :character00238:

Ha ha Silence - No I don't think Mr Guinness did any harm last night. Weigh in ok - managed to keep the squatters off through the week so a 2lb loss but as it IS only squatters, no movement to the tickers. Next week there WILL be - onwards and downwards.

I was totally captivated by the Dan Brown books and loved Da Vinci and the thoughts it provoked.

The strength of the book was that germs of truth were lurking in the pages, asking the reader "What if?" and drawing everyone into the conspiracy theories. Of course, everyone knows that history was written in favour of male domination and that much of religion has been male dominated too so it was a short step to blur fact and fiction.

I loved the suggestion too that a woman could have been that powerful all those years ago and the (not totally implausible) suggestion that there could be a bloodline going back to that time. The book was a good work of fiction and I loved it but I enjoyed the others too.

Well, what about today - Mr Sun is a little bit shy this morning. Come on Mr Sun, come out and play - we love you.

Have a good day everyone :character00238: x

Afternoon all! I missed you all this morning as I went out early to see a friend who is a little messed up after the inquest of her mothers death a few days ago. I'm back now though!
