Bra Fitting

I am off to London on Saturday for some christmas shopping and though I would take the opportunity to get fitted for a new bra, I know bravisimo have a good reputation but I currently wear a 40B (have lost 4 stone) so my bras dont fit that well now, having checked the web site it seems they specialise in very large cup sizes - does anyone know if they also stock normal sizes? I dont want to feel embarrised by my shrinking bust!

I think they start at a D or DD but it would be worth going to get measured as apparently a lot people wear the cup size too small and the back size too big so you might be a totally different measurement to what you think!

That's me! I was wearing a 40DD and they measured me as a 36F!!

I'd love to know how they work this out! If Bravissimo calculate you as, eg, 36DD, does this mean you can buy a 36DD from ANY shop and it would fit??

I've been looking at various websites and the M&S bra sizing says to measure under your boobs and add 4" if it is an even sum or 5" if it is an odd sum ... well I am 35" under the boobs and 40" over the boobs so that puts me at a 40D but that's the size I was wearing a year ago! I have lost 26lbs since then!

I have bought some 38Ds from M&S but the cup isn't right ...

How do you measure yours and where do you buy your bras??

If you can afford it, try Rigby & Pellar. I've promised myself when i get to target i will buy myself some from there.

I know Bravissimo don't measure you they are trained to look at you and then get the right fit.
Have to say that when i can afford it, the bra's i get from them fit amazingly and totally change my shape (just not cheap as 1 bra isn't enough!)

Ali - without being personal, you say the cup size isn't right - is it too big?? And how does the back fit. Could it be a different shape bra? I cannot wear balconette shape, but if i get a full cup the cup size is right.

Buying a bra is like buying jeans - you have to try 100s to get 1 thats right (then buy every colour lol) x

Not too personal chick ;) I have 2 bras - exactly the same design - size 40DD is too big around the back and too baggy over the boobs. The other one is size 38D and feels 'ok' around the back but a bit snug over the boobs ... if I had the time and the shops were a bit quieter (bad time of year I guess) I would try a few on.

Come to think of it ... there's a little bra shop in town that never looks busy. Might pop in there for a proper measure :) So many people recommend NOT going to M&S!

Oh kings that is my wish/dream as well it was also a thing on my list to do when i cleared my debt ( years of overspending and hiding head in sand) which i have now done so its just the weight to go now...lol

Try the shop!!!
And maybe go for a 38DD - sometimes if you go for a smaller back, you have to go up a cup size.

I'm waiting for my weightloss to have an effect on my bust sizes. Women who want bigger breasts have no idea as to the pain they are lol x
