Bust measurements

When a womans bust measurement is stated like 36-24-26 does the bust measurement represent the measurement over the fullest part of the breast or the underbust?

hmm, I don't actually know?? Obviously for a bra measurement it's the underbust....but with vital statistics perhaps it's showing off the bigger measurement??......I'm not much help here!

Thanks munkypoo i'm glad i'm not the only one confused by it. I think the thing about the bra size is why i'm confused.

Just got this via some wikipedia research into female proportions;

"The female body has three key physical inflection points:

Chest, which is measured across the fullest part of the bust
Waist, which is usually measured at the smallest circumference of the abdomen
Hips, which is usually measured at the largest circumference of the hips and buttocks"

Thanks for that, now i feel like a dunse for thinking it was the underbust

To be honest I'd presumed it was, until I actually thought about it!
That makes my stats a bit more top-heavy than I'd realised!!!
