cakes made with the ready mixes and diet drinks

Hi all, I'm planning a birthday party and was googling cake recipes and came accross a few sites which seem to say to use a diet drink to wet cake mix and bake....no need for oil and/eggs. has anyone tried this?
just put diet coke cake into google and you'll see what i mean.

I recently made a muffin batch that used coke instead of wet ingredients, it was ok, it was supposed to make them really light and airy, but i found them very dry until you tried to eat them then they turned into paste and glued to the inside of your mouth! I know all recipes are different, i suppose you won't know if it's any good until you give it a go, but mine weren't great! x

Yes, with great results! Cakes always turn out lovely, moist and sticky for me- no matter which mix and pop (eg; chocolate and diet coke, sponge and cream soda) :)

How very bizarre! I'm curious though.... Does it matter what pop you use?

I don't think so, although I found a list once of different cake types and the pop you 'should' use. Wish I could remember it but I think it was along the lines of dark cake/dark pop, light cake/light pop.

I'm going to try this - I'm really intrigued!

oooh sounds good ... defo gona have to try this out :) xxx
