Can I lose 4 1/2 stone in the foundation stage?

It's nice to find a kindred soul :D

What course/level did you go for? I have decided that once I can pull myself away from the minimins site  I will do some research as to what's available and what would be my best bet :)

Hi CoaM

i also am interested in becoming a CD counsellor...although im doing LL at the mo im going to switch to CD after my 100 days as i will still have a cpl of stone to go....there is a CD counsellor called Linda on here who has passed me loads of info on becoming a CDC and the initial outlay isnt as extorniate as LL £15000 up front !!! have a look through the threads and im sure she will be just as helpful

good luck hun

I am in the same boat as you Chicken, I don't have time to go full time as I have a son at school, but as a single parent I need the security of my current job. I'm thinking more a long term plan to go into work as a counsellor rather than specifically a LLC although I've agreed to go and do the training to be a locum to help my LLC when she needs a holiday.

I've not looked into this at all but there is a course running that is convenient for me so I've applied. It's a certificate in Human Relation & Counselling Skills - Level 1, Module 1 It offers 20 Scotcat points which means they can be accredited towards a degree if I was to decide to take it further. There are 4 modules available in total and I plan to take all of them. One is of particular interest as it covers the spiritual Aspects of Helping Skills.

I'm just going with the flow at the moment, have wanted to learn new skills and this is what feels right for me just now.

We all know how lonely it feels when we need help and it's not available, so if I can help to put a smile back on just one persons face I will walk that extra mile.

Thanks for your reply groovychick, I have all the info on becoming a LLC which is why I decided that I don't have the commitment to go through with it at the moment. Yes the set up costs are migh compared with CD but the returns are worth it from a business point of view. Also although I know it is a business, the margins seem huge and this means that a fantastic programme is not available to so many. :(

I want to be able to do some to plug the gap :D

Shadow I think I'm going to see if there is a specific course tailored towards weight loss, I might have to do a non-specific course first. I'll look into and post the results :)

Thanks Chicken

Will be interested to see what you find out. From what I could gather, you need to do the general background stuff first before specialising in any particular area.

There are ones for Spiritual Aspects of counselling or Change and Adjustment, both of which run on from the basic level 1 course, but the one I plan to do starts next year at my university and is for people who self harm or self injure....correct me if I'm wrong but by overeating we all fall into this category.

I am planning to keep your options open at the moment purely from a financial and employment point of view.

Hi Chicken

Just read your post and I too am moved to tears, you write so well on how you feel.

I was also contemplating going into being a LLC but obviously at the end once Ive done management. I currently work for a French Bank financing French Cars. I would much sooner work in getting people to be slim, what an absolute achievement. I know you say there is a minimum of 35 hours but most sessions are later in the evening when your daughter would possibly be in bed. There are two Group Sessions on a Monday which are 6pm - 8pm and then 2nd class 8pm - 10pm. The time in which you hold your sessions is completely up to you therefore if you had them later, you have the best of both worlds, being able to pick up your daughter from school and later in the day being able to pass on all your good work to other people who were in the same predicament as yourself.

Good Luck in your choices. As I am also interested in being a LLC I am going to put a post on this Forum asking if anybody knows anymore details, financial, courses etc.

I am doing Cambridge 1,000 calories to lose my last stone, but when I was on SS (and also LL) I used to make savoury pancakes from a soup pack, which you can eat with a knife and fork. I used to make this with 30g of the pack, and crisps with the other 10g. (I think LL packs are smaller but you get the idea) You need to use some psyllium husk for the recipe to work, but it saved me no end of times. It felt like a "meal", especially if I had mustard with it.
If you want the recipe, please e mail. [email protected]
