In short - yes, you can drink too much water even if you're not on CD.

For women, I wouldn't go over 6 litres. If you aim for 4-6 litres a day, then that should be fine!

I thought it was 1.75 pints too. Might you be confusing it with 2.2lbs in a kilo? :)

Nooo... I have a litre bottle, and it fills my pint glass twice, right to the top. Are you thinking of US measures which are different to ours?

I always feel a need to answer to the posts about water incase someone reads them and panics. I think I'll save this answer and copy and paste as needed.

It is correct that you can drink too much water whether on vlcd or not, HOWEVER, if the water is spaced out throughout the day there is no risk from it. The risk comes when too much water is drunk in too short a space of time and impacts on the vital balance of salts in the body (electrolytes). But it takes a concerted effort to do that or for the individual to be under the influence of drugs like ecstasy which inhibit their ability to recognise and respond appropriately to thirst/satiation.

Anyone drinking 1/2 litre to litre of water an hour really has no need to worry.

You should be aware that cramping in the legs can be sign that the delicate balance of electrolytes in your body may be being affected. If you experience cramping you can add a little salt to your soup or just lay off the water for awhile.
