    Hi everyone,

Sorry if TMI but I need some advice or at least some reassurance.

Since starting CD, I have noticed that my periods have been extremely irregular and very heavy.

This month however, it's the heaviest I have ever seen it and I daren't even go out in case I end up in an embarassing situation!!!

Does anyone else have problems or is it just me? x

Hi Gem. I started CD mid November and my TOTM has been all over the place. Not as heavy but it would just show up out of the blue sometimes. I am getting a bit worried to be honest as I don't know why. Hopefully a CDC can tell us why.

I once became anaemic due to heavy flow so monitor it, if it lastss longer than a week I would suggest you go to your GP. They have meds that can stop them temporarily.

    Thanks guys,

It is a bit worrying. I got so upset about it this morning and ended up in tears but I think it's just hormones making me emotional lol!!! x

I get terrible menstral cramps and to my doctor I couldn't have the cramps, heavy flow and try to do this diet. She perscribed birth control pills and my periods have stopped for the time being. She did offer to put in a coil but I opted for the pills. So much better not having to worry about it. Gem sounds like this is to be expected from CD diet and things will get back to normal when you are finished.

Yeah I hope so Edi! I tried the pill before and it was all well and good having no periods while I was on it, but when I decided to come off it, they went totally haywire! Hopefully they will go back to normal when I am done with CD x

as i'm taking some time off cd over the holidays, i'm hoping to get a break from totm.
have been having a light totm since week 5!!!!!!! been to docs, as i have the injection, and she prescribed the pill as well, but it made no difference.... so she said i just have to put up with it, or come off the diet....
as she said, cd wont be forever, so i just have to put up with it for a little while longer....

Hi guys, just wanted to butt in and explain the reason behind the messed up cycle on a VLCD - it is that during our menstrual period, since we began them - whatever age that was - we have stored any excess eostrogen at the end of our cycle, in our body fat....as we begin to lose weight (body fat) - and particularily as fast as we do on CD, that causes us to have excess eostrogen 'floating' around in our system, thus messing up our cycle - however it is temporary - as soon as we start working up the Steps & our weight loss slows and is then maintained all goes back to normal! :)

    You're welcome hun ...:)

It was a junior doctor who was using the diet that looked into that for us on the pink site ...

It will sort itself out!! :)

    Good Luck! ;)
