Hi Donna! I was going to write to u too, us being Essex girls and all!! What part of Essex are u from? I will go an find your diary and subscribe myself. I remember you from before, you did well before didnt you? I am do glad your mum is better, you hear so many horrid stories that dont end well, is lovely to hear your mum fougght the battle and won!

Thanks for that tip, which I did do in that pic of Friday nights meal and I didn't miss the skin, but sometimes you just need the skin! Do u know what I mean?

Well I have been bad all weekend, Saturday involved copious amounts of wine, doritos, dips, 3 slices of pizza M&S ones 3 slices of garlic bread, and birthday cake - but hey it's not everyday your sister turns...45 is it?!?

Sunday started off well, with brunch of egg toast abs bacon (although rind on - what is it with me and animal skin?!? - I an thinking of hypnosis to overcome my skin fetish!!) and then we went to see my sis in law run the marathon, man those people are brave, I felt very ashamed of my lazy arsed self, I need to do some exercise. Then we came home, was too tired to cook and had a nandos - skin on, half a chicken (greedy grunt) spicy rice and two slices of halloumi, and I added a tomato and onion salad on it myself for good measure. Enough should have been enough, but we had our nandos feast quite early and so at 9:30pm I had three cream crackers with butter and peanut butter AND some French stick, about 4 inches worth, with butter and ham. That's it... Oh no and I had my boyfriends slice of my Sisters birthday cake! Oh god I feel like I am in confession, how many hail marys should I say!

Anyway, let's draw a line under that and start anew. Todays diary to follow ! X

hello charley. originally from london i moved to laindon 9 years ago. so not quite 100%
essex but enough to say shut up at least 100 times a day lol

yr post made me laugh u def r a girl after my own heart!!

draw a big line and start afresh today xxx

Hey Donna

So you are originally a Lahnderner are you. Nice. I am from Thurrock, about a 5 minute drive from Lakeside - shut uuuuuuup! I hate that show, TOWIE has done nothing for our fine Essex reputation!

Yes, you are right - I am going to draw a chicken skin/bacon rind line under my naughty weekend and try try again.

The pasta in sauce flavour is Cheese Leek and Ham - I rarely use ready meals, but these I cannot resist - they are my favourite flavour and lovely if you add bacon or some fried chorizo if you can spare some syns.

My burgers (I will upload a photo of them tonight) I made myself from this recipe Mexican bean burgers with lime yogurt & salsa recipe - Recipes - BBC Good Food . They are nice enough - a little dry but I think that happens when you make your own veggie burgers - they have a lot of flavour. I added green peppers and sweetcorn to mine and made it with one tin of Kidney beans and one tin of mixed beans. The syns are for two slices of lightly toasted 800g wholemeal bread which I whizzed up, it works out to make 5 patties which is 11.5 syns in total or 2.3 syns divided by 5.

Have a good day Donna!

Sounds like you had a busy weekend Charley and Im sure you will get back on track we all have lapses. Hope youve had a good day, mines been stressful and havent really had time to eat, I will try and eat better tomorrow x

I didn't think it would be very nice, I figured it would dry up, so I made it with a tad too much water so it had a bit of moisture in it and I also melted a laughing cow in it as I hadn't had all my HEA for my brekkie. X

cool i melted it into it last night should of added an extra one, may try again sometime I think mugshot for dinner tomorrow, dunno whether to have fruit after or before cos some ppl say you aint really having ur 1/3 then x

Everyone thinks differently on the forum - try it the way you want to and if you see results, then fantastic. Personally I see nothing wrong in having your 1/3 afterwards by way of fruit. But others may not agree. At the end of the day its your life style change and if it works, then it works. I am thinking that the way you have been eating the last week or so is a massive change to the way you ate before the diet - therefore any "good" changes you make are going to help you.

ps. I don't think I could survive on a mugshot for dinner! Its more of a snack or an accompaniment to a salad lunch in my book. Mind you I am a greedy grunt! x

24 April - EE

B - 3x Sausages (1.5 syns) - I tried the Morrisons Eat Smart Pork Sausages as they are cheaper and the same synnage as my BGTY Sainsburys ones - not nearly as nice as the Sainsburys one. I won't get them again.

L - My take on DonnaJT's Stroppy fellow pasta - except I had no chicken or creme fraiche - so I skinned a Morrys (bleurgh!) Sausage (.5 syn) and balled it into tiny balls, rolled them round in a dusting of smoky paprika, and fried with 2 rashers of bacon (rind off - get me!) then I mixed 1.5 tbsps of red pesto (3 syns) with tom puree (1 syn) and quark - added a chilli and parsley and ran the whole lot through 200g of cooked brown pasta. So actually other than the pesto pasta and parsley, it really wasn't anything like the Stroppy Pesto Pasta!!!. It looked nice straight from cooking, but I am thinking its going to be a bit of a challenge to reheat, I will water it down a smidge I think as it looks a little claggy today (think its the quark).

D - Oh dear, I am going out tonight, this is generally where I make my epic fails - when I am let loose in a place of food (or as I prefer, my place of worship). Tonight I am going to the The Holy Trinity of the Harvester. I can start well by having a salad from the cart and am saving my HEB for a roll and will have the red devilly saucey thing as that is low, but I will need to put the bacon and onion bits on, I am not sure of the syns of those but I have only had 3.5 syns and will count the rest of my syns towards my Harvester - I am going to have half a chicken and jacket pot for mains (using the salad as my 1/3) and I will try very hard to take the skin off, but it is going to be so so hard!

I will post foodie pics later today!

image-3379248202.jpg

Now this was really quite nice, I added some hot water and two l. Cows from my HEA and it was really nice. Change of plan for tonight, no Holy Harvester, my friend isn't feeling great so I am going to hers and we are getting a takeaway!!!!!! Oh ****! There is a kebab shop near her so I will go for a lamb shish and NO chips and burger sauce - no no no! Xx

25 April

Look at what my company have just given us all for US Staff Appreciation Day - I work for a US firm in London:

image-3010401864.jpg

now on the one hand we have a get out of jail 2 hours early voucher but look at the amazing choccies! On the bright side there are only 8 chocs, but how am I going to syn them? There is no nutritional info on the back, which is never a good sign. It springs to mind the saying "if you have to ask the price, you can't afford them!!". I could give them away, but if I gave them to Mick they would be hanging around the flat whispering my name. So what do you think ladies, should I have one every now and then and syn them high? How sinful would you calculate these little beauties?

Last night was a semi fail, semi success. We went for kebabs and I had the mixed kebab, kofta, shish and the dreaded doner which I halved with my friend (the doner bit). The shish was depressingly fatty and I spat most of it back out but the kofta and doner was amazeballs. So with that I would say I probably went over my syns but I never had my heb and only half of my HEA so I am going to call that a big fat tweak with the pitta bread and call it a 15 syn day!

So today:

B - 2 morrys sausages (no likey)

L - stroppy pasta and salad

D - spag carbonara and salad

Snacks : berries and muller, apple

Pics to follow

Ok re. the truffles - I have looked on Hotel Chocolat's webby and it states that the small truffles are between 58 and 61 calories, so that would be 3 syns each, which are much better than I was expecting. I will make it 4 syns each and just have one when I have enough syns left at the end of the day. I may (if I can bear it) try and just have one a week on weigh in day - how strong is my will? Answer: not very!

This was amazing!

Oh and and and... guess what I did? I gave my chocolates away!

It was good of your company to give you all a little treat, I work for the NHS and we never get any perks, we don't even get priority for appointment's lol. I would have the (lovely) choc's when I needed a hit and just syn them, I have small amounts of chocolate on the plan if I need it.

I'm not a fan of many of the low syn sausages except the sainsbury's bgty cumberland ones which I love. I put 2 into a wholemeal pitta with lots of onions, peppers & mushrooms for breakfast, yum and very filling, usually have this on a weekend.

Oh I am having a bad food day!! All my planned food has gone out of the window. Why? Well for starters I STS - which I am p!ssed off about - I wasn't great at the weekend, but I have been good this week. I guess I need to aim for 7 good days don't I?! Also, I am ok if my day is planned, like I get up at the same time and get on the train at the same time and start work at the same time.... but this morning I had to drive Mick to the hospital (not serious) and we were both late for work, which put my plan out of kilter - so I got into work late and had a bacon roll from the trolley. Ok bad, but I could have dealt with the rest of the day by being bad.... noooo, I then went to M&S at 1pm and bought a triple sandwich thing with ham & mustard, prawn and mayo and a BLT sandwich in there AND I brought two bags of crisps - C&O McCoys (man I love these) and Brannigans Roast Beef and Mustard. Why? I feel sick now. Do I feel guilty? No not especially, but I should. All I want to do is carry on eating.

I want today to be over so I can start afresh tomorrow.

Line drawn under today so far. I have a curry in the slow cooker which is a healthy one so I can start being good from now on.

Hi Charley

I read this post and loved it. I feel the exactly the same and i showed my friend and she laughed as we were on a plane recently and panicked about the seat beats lol

I am starting back to slimming world tonight this will be my third attempt! so wish me luck.

I havent started a food diary as i eat the same old boring stuff over and over again maybe thats why i never stick to it lol

I hope your doing well as your menu looks fab

Hey Angie, thanks for reading, I often think I am talking to myself. It's a fabulous confession box this forum, I find myself very forgiving!

I imagine there are so many everyday things a that people find a bit more taxing than 'normal' people, funny things that people can relate to and say 'yeah, that's me'. The other day I put some snug underwear on and I was feeling particularly energetic and powerful that morning so I donned my iPod and headed off the long way to the train station... I say the long way but really it's just a few minutes longer walk and up and down a mountain (aka a hill...aka a bridge with a slight incline!) anyhow, as I am powering up that bridge with Beyonce in my ears belting out how bootilicious my body wad, my knickers started rolling down my belly and then bum and then just kept going until the only thing that was holding them up was the crotch of my trousers (thank god i wasn't wearing a skirt or they would have been round my ankles!) I couldn't rearrange myself as there were people behind me, not to mention the cars driving past me. It was so uncomfortable and I had to stay that way until I got into london and ran to the stations loos. The same thing happened one time with the hold up stockings I borrowed from my mum (who is smaller than me!) for an interview for the job I now have - I got to the station and whipped those bad boys off - thankfully I got the job without looking like Nora batty! Ah the confessions of a fat bird!!!!

Well thanks for dropping by, I have had a terrible day foodwise but I an going to start afresh tomorrow - tonight is Jamaican Beef Curry courtesy of mias mamma - check her food out its so delish.

Good luck on your third attempt, it's my 5th or 6th, I really hope you start better than me, my results must be an all time low record! Believe it or not I do feel positive about losing weight this time - I know I joke and lark around but I do find it a constant battle with my head and my desire to eat what I want. Today my desire won, tomorrow it loses.

Take care Angie and try and start a food diary, and keep reading the others and try utilising some of their ideas, esp in the recipe section - variety is the spice of life!

X

Try try again.

I am going to give it another go. I have been back doing SW online for nearly 2 months and I have lost ... 2 pounds! Not the greatest start is it? I know the SW diet inside and out but there is one thing I cant get my head around, I am a cheater! I am so good and then I balls it up by being naughty. I am now almost 2 stone away from my biggest weight and I am really scared I will end up back there. It was a horrible time for me being that weight but a nasty virus led me to lose 6 stone - and over the last few years the weight has crept back on... I have joined SW about three/four times over the last three years and each time I failed at it and it looks as though I am failing again.

So I need to put my head back in the game and man up! I have been reading into some very inspirational people's diaries and I feel stronger and more empowered - so this is my diary. I am not great at seeing things through and I am not always able to post, but I will try my hardest. So today, weigh in day and I lost 1lb - which I am alright with as I spent 4 days out of 7 gorging on easter choc! The choc has gone now, so I will hopefully be less tempted by it not being in the house:

B - 1 banana, half a cantaloupe melon and 2 black coffees

L - Quarter BBQ chicken - skin on - I know, but I just can't help myself!(?) with salad and 1tbsp salad cream light choice (1 syns)
Tesco fish sushi taster (2 syns) (I didn't need this, I was being greedy!)

D - Pork Curry and Rice with broc and cauli (free)

Snacks throughout the day - Oaty bar (HEB) blueberries and mango with greek yogurt

SYNS - I don't know how to syn the skin with the chicken, I know no concept of the weight of the skin. I will not be having any more syns though so I am hoping that 7 syns will cover the skin, therefore I will have had 10 syns.

HEB - Oaty bar
HEA - None planned today, I will have a glass of milk later I think

THOUGHTS ON THIS DAY: I need more of a substantial breakfast, I usually have a couple of sausages, sometimes in a sandwich, or porridge or weetabix but I hate wasting my HEs on the first meal of the day - this is the first day this week that I havent planned my meals.... and it shows.

You do need to have more of a brekkie - if I had just fruit I would faint I reckon lol. x
