It took a while to get into the right frame of mind, I began to start counting calories but realised I was just switching one obsession with another. From now on an just going to eat sensibly but allow myself more naughty days! If I ever needed to lose a few pounds I don't think I'd return to SW but just cut back and watch what I eat, I think I'd become obsessed with counting again and that's the last thing I want at the minute.

What about you? How are your losses going?

Also, just realised that it's now been 9 weeks in/under target range!

That's such a sensible way of looking at it, otherwise you could spend the rest of your life either counting syns or calories!
Well done on the 9 weeks, such an achievement.

My losses are slow but I was on roll & then had an unexpected gain when I upper the miles cycling. Didn't weigh yesterday as thought id leave it 2 weeks & see. However I can get into clothes I couldn't a few weeks ago so I'm obviously shrinking! Ill get there eventually & its not for the want of trying as I'm anal about it all! Probably trying to hard, but at least I'm getting fitter & stronger & almost back to my pre-op days before surgery.....a long time coming I tell you! I not only feel stronger physically but emotionally as well, as its been tough! Xx

Great news about the clothes fitting! I love it when that happens - you're obviously losing the inches if not on the scales! Good idea about leaving it two weeks, hopefully your muscle gain should have settled by then. I can't imagine how tough it must have been, but you're so positive and inspirational :) x

Thanks Charlie that's lovely of you to say that. Its been a really tough few years & every year we say it can't get any worse & then something else happens! That's life & you have to roll with the punches! Xx

That is life, and although it can be a b**** it's how you deal with it that defines you as a person. You can whine and moan and feel sorry for yourself or you can accept it and move on - I know which I'd rather do! X

Ditto! Wallowing in self pity gets you nowhere does it! We're not here for that long so get on & enjoy life! X

How's your week been Charlie? Xx

Very naughty Kim! Overindulged in every way possible - have had the week off and it was my friends birthday and then went to a music festival! Weigh in yesterday showed a 3lb gain but I don't think it was very accurate and I'm sure I'll have lost most of it by next weigh in. I did however do a lot of exercise this week - running and a 4 mile walk to and from the festival for 3 days!

My problem at the moment is stopping when I'm full. On a normal day it's fine because my portions are ok but if I go to a buffet or out for a large meal - I'll eat to the point of nausea. It's something I'm really going to work on. It's really not healthy and it makes me rather ill :(

How has your week been? Massive congratulations on the 3lb loss too! X

Im sure you'll get that 3lb off in no time Charlie! Im sure thats the problem with most of us with eating past the satisfied stage, or we wouldn't be on this forum! But at least you are aware of it, so its something you just need to tackle. You dont overeat when you're being 'good', so in theory there's no reason you should do it when you're out for a meal/buffet. I wander if its because you dont have control over the food, its just put in front of you as its been cooked by someone else, but when you have your own meals you control whats going on your plate coz you've prepared it??? Did the Paul McKenna dvd help?

I had a good week thanks & was great to see a loss at last! The cycling is obviously paying off & being on plan 100%! I was a bit concerned I wasn't eating enough with the exercise, but cant force the food in if Im not hungry!

Hope you have a better week food wise this week now you're back to work & there's no socialising! xx

Yeah, I've always been taught to clean my plate and not waste, which is something I think is always at the back of my mind! I've been listening to the Paul McKenna trance cd thing, v relaxing but not sure how effective it is!

If you don't feel hungry then your body obviously doesn't need the fuel do I'm sure it was fine. I'd be more worried if you were hungry but not eating enough! Have got lots of lovely healthy goodies to much this week so should be right back on track :) x

Haha, Im eating enough & make sure I have 3 meals a day, but I normally save my syns for the evening so I can have a snack mars bar, but I was finding I didn't want it & then worried I hadn't had any syns! I can normally incorporate them in meals, with sauces etc, but was just going thru a weird patch not being hungry.....not like me at all! Im blaming the neuro drug Im on, suppressing my appetite, but think its settling now Im getting used to it. Just hope it doesn't have the opposite effect!!!

How's the running going & has the knee settled down ? Did you manage to get those supplements I mentioned? xx

Running is going well thanks, knee much better with the support. I've not been shopping since you mentioned it, but will be keeping an eye out. Think I've seen them in the vitamin section in asda!

I was going to have a detox this week - no booze, cigarettes or chocolate but have already broken the no chocolate rule! According to mr McKenna, since I was hungry and stopped when I was full, the 15 or so celebration Chocs I had this afternoon shouldn't make a difference :p have been super good otherwise :)

So weigh in this morning shows 1lb loss (from the 3lb gain I had last week), rather chuffed - even had chocolate! Didn't really try too hard either, just ate when I was hungry and stopped when I was full even when the meal was one of my favourites! My snacks often weren't fruit but cereal or go ahead bars, and I had a bagel and whole grain crisps for lunch every day :)

Just goes to show there are other ways of losing/maintaining weight without counting points and calories. Whilst I couldn't have lost the 5 stone without slimming world, I'm glad I've found a way of losing and maintaining without being too strict.

Would like to get back to 8 stone 3 as this puts me at exactly 5 stone loss, as Kim, you know what I'm like with numbers :p

Well done Charlie, you're obviously doing something right & your body must be very happy with the food you're giving it! I'd be just the same as you going for that lovely round number of 5 stone, but that should be your lowest as your BMI is at the lower end! 5 stone is amazing, so happy for you.
My DH is starting to make mutterings about me being 'too small' & I've got another 9lbs to go! Sorry take that back, I haven't got, but want to lose another 9lbs as there is a difference! But saying that, Im quite happy with how I look now, just want to get rid of the blubber around my middle as everywhere else is ok, so think that 9lb will make all the difference, I hope! xx

I think 9lbs will definitely make a difference to how you feel, and you could always just play it week by week and call target when you feel you've lost enough! Xx

You're right, coz being small, 9lbs can make a huge difference to how I look & feel! Im actually looking forward to getting there, as its been a very slow weightloss
this time around & not being at work hasn't helped, but I do try & stay as active as I can.
How has the week gone with no ciggies, booze & chocolate, as you said you were going to try & cut down? xx

Was a fail on all three accounts I'm afraid, but all were in moderation so I'm actually quite pleased with myself! I really do need to quit smoking though, it started of as 'social smoking' and has now turned into a habit rather than an addiction. Monday tomorrow, new exercise routine (running 3-5km each weekday morning) and the start of being a non smoker. Trying to think of an incentive - eg if I stay smoke free for the whole week I'll buy myself something nice on Sunday. Would bribe OH into buying me something which would be even more motivation but he smokes too so wouldn't be interested!

My little sister has decided she needs to tone up for her holiday and asked me to help, so I've devised some workouts that we'll do every other day - that will keep me motivated!

Not long now till you can go back to work - I bet you can't wait!? Xx
