I don't know where my motivation came from in the first place for Slimming World. I just joined and started following plan religiously for the following months. I had weight loss after weight loss, and eventually I had lost 4st2lbs. It took me about 6 months and then I started maintaining a lot; through fault of my own. I just stopped caring as much. Then I started gaining and not caring even though I had another 3 - 4 stone to lose. Then I left group and since then I have gained 1st1lb; this was gained in about 5 months so not too bad. I rejoined and this was supposed to be my starting week where I get back to plan, however I have binged too many times. I don't understand what has happened, I just don't seem to care anymore and cannot seem to find the motivation that I once had because I have no clue why I had it in the first place. I am so angry with myself. Any advice?

Story of my life. My weight has fluctuated for years and although sometimes i'm really miserable about it and crack, if my flatmate brings home a bargain bucket i'm just like 'Sod it I don't care anyway' - I go round in a big circle. I found the classes for SW really motivating too and its nice to have the support if you've had a bad week.
I also took some photos of myself in a dress that is way too small that I REALLY want to fit into and put it in a passworded album on my phone (in case my boyfriend stumbles across it because i'd be mortified) and whenever I feel like I might break and eat all the chocolate in the house I look at that picture! Don't know if that helps at all but good luck! xxx

Hi yes would definitely agree with others on here group can help, and trying new things, like recipes you haven't done before. But great you recognise your lack of motivation rather than thinking the plan has stopped working.

Hi Rosie, I myself am very much like you... I went on weight watchers in 2010 and lost 3 stone now 2014 the 3 stone has come back on and some!
I joined slimming world as I am going away in august and was so motivated.... Then the weight gain started!
I don't know if I'm lying to myself when I say I don't know why I put on as I blatantly do . I did the plan flippantly and ate when I wanted and what I wanted!
I think we both have to remember the feelings we felt when we did loose weight! Alternatively put a date in your diary with your ideal weight in and try to aim for that Atleast then you have a goal and a date xx

Thanks for the replies everyone. I go to group and I always stayed the whole thing. I love it and find it really motivating but that just wasn't enough to stay. I had a few big hiccups last week but still lost 2lb, this week has been fine so I may be slowly getting back into it. I like the dress thing LoveMyCat, I may have to do that. And yes Minniemouse23 I have been thinking about how good it felt, I think I may start a 'mood journal'.

    Hi Rosie.
Yes, this is totally me. I really can't get my head in gear (quote from SW online, as I just put in my weight for the week. A gain, no surprises there). I've never held much stock in taking photos but actually right now I'm prepared to try anything! I also think having a target is a great idea, even if there isn't an event or something special happening. Just having something to aim for. This is probably my issue too, I don't have anything to really motivate me. Even knowing I am fat and unhappy with it doesn't seem to work! I live abroad and there are no groups here so I do SW online. So, here's to trying new things, getting motivated and being happy!

Ah motivation to keep going is the hardest thing. We're all so different, we need to find what works for us personally. At the moment I'm doing a sponsored slim so the fact I'm being 'watched' and don't want the embarrassment of not hitting target, is a big motivator. Plus I have a holiday coming so again big motivator. I also try and remind myself (out loud if I'm struggling) of the other benefits every day - I feel well, I look better, I feel sexier, I move easier. Positive thinking seems really lame when people talk about it but it really does work! Take 10 minutes out to jot down WHY you're doing this and the BENEFITS so far. You could also lock the bathroom door and tell yourself your reasons in the mirror for extra impact. For a lot of us it's about self esteem and self image so remind yourself YOU ARE WORTH IT. Best of luck
