Couscous Query

Hiya,

Im asking this question on behalf of a friend (I personally dont like couscous!)

She was wodnering if you could use couscous as a flan base? Would this be free or would you have to syn it as you will be using the couscous as a substitute? We found the couscous muffin discussion on her and wondered if it would be the same argument using it as a flan base?

Like me, she is nearing the end of her weight loss so will syn this if need be as it might affect her weight loss.

Many thanks x

I don't know, but can feel a debate coming on..........

Whenever we have a discussion/debate about having to syn things that are made up of 'free' ingredients, I have no idea how to actually syn them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any ideas? (Sorry to hijack the thread but it does relate to the OP)

I personally wouldn't.........
It's synned at 5 syns per 28g uncooked weight.

It says in the book "when ground or used as a flour substitute, it needs to be synned". To me, using cous cous as "pastry" or in a cake is a flour substitute.
Each to their own but I say nope.

i would say yes my self as all you are doing is making the couscous up and putting something on top.
thats just my opinion tho
