Deflating the Bouncy Castle

ooh - lovely peonies! (peonies?)

we cover basics on this course (including hand tied bouquets, buttonholes, wiring, corsages etc), but after easter i'll be doing an intermediate course, plus a specific wedding course that covers more tricky stuff like bridesmaid pomanders. two evenings a week - feeling so tired today after last night, reckon i must be mad. but yes - aim is to do weddings, see if they take off and hopefully make enough money that i can at least drop down to 4 days at work. Of course, if i become wedding florist to the rich and famous, i could give up teaching altogether... but i reckon that's a pretty feint hope. How much do wedding florists earn in a year? I suspect not as much as I do currently...:(

its better to do it on the side I have quite a few booked this year. I think maybe in around 5 years time I will see how things have gone and possibly look at a shop, Im not ready to leave my job and scrimp! I found the evening courses so therapeutic it sounds like the same courses I did :) Good luck hun you'll love it and pomanders are great we did loads as pew ends for a wedding last summer and doing some for two weddings we have in feb :)

i don't fancy owning a shop. all that stock you have to carry and so perishable. Very hard business to make money out of, i'd have thought. whereas weddings - get an order, buy what you need from new covent garden (which as luck would have it is about a 15 min drive from me), get paid - minimal waste.

My mum has a shop and it depends a lot of 'waste' as bad as it sounds goes on funeral work as the flowers need to be open and at there peak just for that day so older flowers get used. If you know your area and your market the waste is quite minimal.
I'd like to have a florist with a tea shop attached and really specialise in weddings. Covent Garden is very expensive these days we never use them anymore you know you have to pay to get out these days. I still use old spitalfields every now and then but the dutch wholesalers are much fresher and cheaper and if you van get into Van Vliet they are excellent but you need to try and prove you are trade.

Im so jealous I really want to go back to college, i think i might try and do something like asian weddings or something as a couple of west london colleges specialise - they do garlands etc

Yes - it's £5 for cars at covent gdn - but then, what price convenience? it's literally down the road; spitalfields would be a royal PITA by comparison - even at 5am! Anyway, getting way ahead of myself. Just nice to have a possible way out of a career that's turning further to sh1t with every whim of Gove and his cronies.

Spangles, I've just read all 106 pages of your diary and you are truly an amazing woman! so much will power and you've done so so well! very inspiring for someone like me who's just at the start of this.

Spangles,

Well done you!! I have read all of your thread. You have achieved so much. I suffer from PCOS and have lost 6.5 stones through the cambridge so far at my biggest I was 19.5 stone. SS\SS+ can get a bit annoying, but you have the willpower and determination to get to your goal.

a pair of readers! hello! (and well done for the mammoth read).

This week's weigh-in? 2lbs. W'ev.

tbh - it is a little disappointing but i think it's as much as i can ask for. looking back, that makes 8lbs in the last four weeks. Bit sucky, really - but there's no point ranting and railing at the injustice of it all (like two weeks ago). I just have to focus on my exit strategy. And hopefully because i'm settled on SS+, the step up to 810 won't be too big a shock to the system.

8 weeks til NYC. 8lbs to my minimum target. there's still a slim* chance, right?

*pun not intended, but appreciated.

That's a good loss! Wowing 8lb is achievable I'm sure! Keep doing what you're doing and those remaining little fat b***** will have no choice but to leave your body for good!!
Just over six and a half stone loss! You are so close now!!

I can't help feeling anything but excited and proud for you!!

I think this is a very good loss -- and could loose those 8 pounds in 8 weeks -- and even a few more. Once you start eating carbs the gylcogen will go back into your liver -- and that will put a few pounds back on you.

I think 2lb is fab this far in Spangly Wangly Doo Da.
And 8 weeks is millions of time to smash that 8lb xx

yup - i reckon it's by no means certain that i'll drop 8lbs during the steps, due to the glycogen regain... but what can you do?

You should continue to lose and you might have some STSs, but you'll be surprised how well it will work. Then you'll have to figure out what the calories in should be to maintain and stabilise.

Are you signed up for MyFitnessPal (free online food and fitness tracker)? -- It will be very helpful and you can track your calories, etc. on the site (and it has a phone app, too).

yup - i've had MFP for a while. handy resource.:)

Just remember you bigger loss when you stepped up to SS+ your body needed more calories, it COULD do the same each time you step up. Also 2lb is more then some of your losses on just SS, 8lb is beatable x
