Dinkie Dawnies Dubious Diary of Downsizing, Deflation, and Debauchery

Oh no :-(. Poor Suki xx. I hope she feels better soon. I know this might sound mad but it might be an idea to get her to lie down and massage the hernia area and tummy in case it is cramps caused by the hernia... It relieved the pain in a couple of minutes for me...

I also would cancel any non urgent ops/treatments xx

Oh thank you so much for your nice words xxx

Suki is on the settee with us now. She can walk about but it's quite gingerly and she's panting. I'm hoping she will have a sleep and then we can give her another painkiller tonight. We have her booked in at the vets for 09.40 tomorrow. I'm wondering if they will suggest an X-ray? I know they don't like to do these things without good reason but I'm so worried about her. Hopefully it's just a pulled muscle and she needs rest, but that's easier said than done as she starts running about when she feels better.

Omg we've got the rugby on and Ireland have scored 2 tries in 10 minutes against the All Blacks! Who'd have thought it!

Dinner was a bit compromised as I just wanted to sit with Suki but it was still nice. Thank goodness for pre chopped carrot batons, packs of fresh cauliflower florets, frozen green bean and jacket spuds lol! I only had to grill the pork chops for ten minutes and take the lid off the apple sauce! Tbh I wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't for the fact that Vicki and Matthew were home. They've just popped down to the local Sofa King (be careful how u say that! ;)) to look at their settees.

Oh wow! Another try for Ireland!!!

Suki is asleep now bless her so fingers crossed she's a bit better when she wakes up xx

Back from the vets. We saw our favourite vet Kelly and she was very thorough as usual. She's confident that Suki has damaged a muscle in her back and that the way forward is painkillers, muscle relaxants and as much rest as possible, which is what the other vets said. So poor Suki has had another injection which should last 24hrs, and then we either carry on with the tablets we've already got or if she won't take them (we had a lot of problems last night) we can try a liquid instead. She also has some Valium which should relax her muscles and ease the pain. If we take her into the garden we've decided that she will have to stay on the lead. The problem is that the medication alleviates the pain so she thinks she's ok and starts running around...and then she damages it again! So we are going to have to watch her all the time! Obviously we've cancelled her op tomorrow. We'll wait until she has her next season and then arrange it for three months after that.

Starting to feel a bit peckish now that we're back and Suki is settled on the settee again. I'm thinking red day as I really fancy the salmon that Suki wouldn't eat this morning! It comes to something when you want to eat your dogs food lol!!!

Aww poor Suki. That must be really painful. Hopefully, after some more rest and pain killers she will feel much better soon.

Now go and get some food (and not dog food!!) xx

Well I got the salmon out and fancied scrambled egg and fried onions with it. So I got some milk and a bowl to whisk my eggs in...and promptly plonked them in the frying pan with the onions instead!

What a twit!

Didn't really like the idea of salmon and fried eggs so I ended up with a slice of ham and some tinned tomatoes for a bit of super free ;)

Suki is fast asleep on the settee, looking very relaxed bless her. She managed a few bits of roast chicken earlier :)

Morning Dawn - just caught up.

Well done on winning Miss Slinky - you looked fab when I saw you last week. Definitely skinny! You know what Gail and I both think but it's down to you chica.

Poor Suki - I can sympathise with her. I frequently get bad muscle ache in my back.
I desperately try to avoid taking pain killers because, as you say, you forget that you are injured.
Pain is the best way of letting you know you are doing seomething wrong and injre it even more.
At least as a sentient human (I think :8855:) I know to sit down and do very little - but cats/dogs don't understand that concept.
Have a chat to the vet, but it may be worth just giving her the pain killers as night so she can sleep but not giving them her during the day.
That way she might slow/calm down a bit and not do anything to damage it further.

Hi there Bev x
That's exactly the problem with Suki! Tablets start working and she thinks she's invincible!!! She's actually flaked out on the floor at the moment so we can relax for a few minutes at least!

Thanks for the Miss Slinky comments! I have taken on board what both you and Gail said. Gwyn says the same...that I'm ok as I am now...and I fully agree.

Well ALMOST fully lol! I just want to squeeze a tiny bit more, maybe get to around 10st? That's just a figure in my head tho and actually it's not as low as I got before. I'm aiming for a weight that I can hopefully maintain a bit easier ( you know what I'm like for quick gains lol! ). But most of all I'm aiming to get into the pair of jeans I wore at Rufford. I felt quite happy with my size then. I can get them on now but they're a little snug, iykwim!!! ;)

Evening ladies x

Suki seems to be well on the mend :) Either that or she's popping more Valium when I'm not looking lol! But bless her she's getting about really well now and it's great to see her tail wagging again :)

Had quite a relaxed day today. We did pop out to our local pet supplies place to buy the girls a few things for Christmas. But they mobbed us when we got home so we gave in and let them have a bone each lol.

I had a nice chat with Gail at lunchtime and it was great to hear that she's lost another pound! Well done sis! Just hope I don't let the side down with MY wi tomorrow night!

Good luck for WI tonight Dawn, I'm sure you'll be fine as you've had a pretty good week!

Glad that Suki is getting better - the valium is obviously working . . . even if she is taking sneaky hits without you knowing. Clever girl :8855:

Lol! Thanks Bev :)

i lost 2lbs last night!!! Yaaay!!! I'm so pleased! So that means I need to lose 1/2lb to reclaim my 5st shiny! Really need to push on with another good week now. The good thing is I don't think there's anything standing in my way, although we're all going to one of Gwyn's choir concerts on Sunday evening and there's ALWAYS food there...

Its pay day ATLAST so I may plonk myself on the iPad and buy a few pressies. Tbh the children all want money this year so they'll just get a few stocking fillers so they've got presents to open, Gwyn wants a new jacket which I'll buy for him, my niece and nephew will have money, my brother and his wife like anything alcoholic or chocolate, and I'm getting mum a tablet, so it shouldn't be too hard! Famous last words! ;)

Andrews PS4 has just been delivered so he'll be excited when he wakes up tonight. He's on nights so he probably won't get time to play on it today but he was at Tesco at midnight last night buying a game for it!

Right! Best get up and showered and get some shopping done! Have a good day guys xx

Congratulations on a fab loss. You're really doing well recently.

I need to sort Christmas presents out. Sadly I need to think of some ideas. Wish people would tell me what they would like like they have for you

X

Well done on the 2lb loss Dawn, that's fab :)

Payday means I'm trying to do my Xmas shopping to, happy to say I'm nearly there - just my Mum to get now... Shouldn't be too hard, Mum's are appreciative of anything!!

Happy weekend xx

Well I haven't bought a thing today! Spent all afternoon researching tablets! I need to get mum a fairly big one as otherwise she won't be able to see it lol! But I don't want it to be too heavy either!

Well done on the loss, you're really doing soooooooooo well.

Christmas . . . hmmmmm
We "cancelled" Xmas in 1991 after I'd just been made redundant with no prospect of a job.
We told everyone except our mums not to buy us a present and we've managed to stick to it ever since.
Means Xmas comes cheap in our houshold!

Hi ladies and thank you Bev and Jane xxx

It's nearly midnight and this is the first time I've had to really get on here!

Spent the morning tidying, cleaning, washing etc and then chatting to lovely Gail :) As usual we put the world to rights and had a bit of a giggle in the process ;)

After lunch I went with Matthew and Vicki to sort out their carpets for the new house! They should exchange next week and get the keys a few days before Christmas, so they're trying to get organised. It's funny because in a huge showroom full of carpets, they picked out the exact carpet Gwyn and I want for our house lol! The company have already measured up Vicki's house so today's meeting was to discus their quote. Matt managed to negotiate a reasonable reduction on the price, and I also booked to have a guy come and give us a quote on Friday, so there may be scope for a bit more discount if we also proceed with buying the carpet.

From there we went to see my mum as she had got my little niece staying with her for the weekend. Little Maddy has got a bit of a crush on Matthew and it's so sweet to see her cuddling up to him! Matt and Vicki are thanking them both to see the house tomorrow so they're very excited about that!

Today's food has been absolutely lovely! Especially dinner tonight! We had Tesco lamb shanks in minted gravy (1.5 syns) and they really were gorgeous! We'll definitely be having them again!
