happy to report 2lb lost so now lost that 4lb gain. I upped my exercise this week in the form of walking. Not far but seems far to me with having ms.

Had a mini woosh this week mostly retained fluid with 3lbs lost and now over half way through my my 15lbs goal, the losses will go back to normal now usually a 1lb a week but will adjust my goal if i reach it earlier :) well done everyone!

Finally back to group weigh in after covid isolation and managed to lose 8.5lbs in those weeks.

I have maintained this week. Seem to have reached a plateau up and down the same couple of pounds for weeks now.

@purpleorc and @boofle I’m so sorry both of you seem to be in a plateau at the moment. I find there is very little in my life more frustrating and annoying than doing all the things I do to loose weight but my body not responding as I want it to.

Traditionally plateaus send me off plan permanently. The fact that you guys are still posting and weathering the plateau has me in awe of you. On this cycle I haven’t lost enough weight yet to plateau but I always find that as my weight get lower (in the 14st something bracket) I stop loosing and it becomes really tricky for me. Then I go off plan and gain back loads of weight.

So the next time I plateau I plan to focus on how much I wanted to be at that weight for most of my life and maybe move to maintaining for a while to try let my body adjust and maybe move my base weight a bit lower.
 
Scales wobbles this week as my body adjusts to higher calories as i move from 800 cals daily to 800 cals only 2 or 3 days a week. Just up over 1lb but not recording it will see if it settles next week.

You have that right it is frustrating but I am still motivated. The fear of being as I was 2 years ago virtually bed bound, lymphodema in both legs, leaking everywhere I went, 2 bouts of cellulitis followed by leg ulcers which took one of them nearly two years to heal up. I was needing virtually everything done for me. Reverting back to this is something I do not want to do. Especially as I am now mobile my lymphoedema team over the moon with my progress and this keeps me plodding on following the programme hoping the plateau breaks soon.

I suppose it is my body adjusting to the amount of weight I have lost and hopefully I will be back to my losing ways soon. But thankyou so much for your kind word they are just the tonic I needed.

I think if you treat the time when you hit a plateau a time to practicing maintaining which is something we will all have to do once at target. If you have this plan in mind when it does happen hopefully you wont spiral back to old ways which is so easy to do.
 
@purpleorc I stayed the same this morning at 16st 3lbs so of course my motivation is dented and I start thinking about all I do to try to get my weight down and how I have wasted the majority of my life on either binging or purging. I don’t have the health concerns you have (yet) so I don’t have that deep fear motivation. I just know that I am heading for those types of health concern if I don’t keep my weight down and I really don’t want that.

I definitely think your body is adjusting to the amount of weight you’ve lost, if you stand back and try to look from the outside, your body effectively thinks you’ve been plonked on a desert island and is trying desperately to keep you alive by holding onto reserves. We diet but forget that millions of years of evolution are pushing back against us.

Which brings me to maintaining - you mentioned before that you had lost weight but regained it, I have done the same and believe that maintaining is actually a billion times harder than dieting. It’s why I’ll be happy to try to maintain around 15st 4lbs which is a BMI of 32.5 for me. That’s my lowest weight goal for this year and then I’ll see if I can hold it.

But this week I’m going to do exactly what I did last week and hope I get a loss next week…
