event dilemma

Hi, I have been nominated for some award through work & there is a ceremony next Thursday, I completely forgot about it & agreed to go ages ago. Problem is it is a dinner & I have no idea what to do! Some of my bosses are going too. Wondered if anyone has had to attend a dinner & what they did to stay on track.
Veggie choices at these things are usually a carb-cheesefest but perhaps I could try & eat only the stuff from my list from whatever I get, any advice appreciated! Em xx

You seem worried though as far as food is concerned - and I can advise to stay away from sugar orientated items. Be careful with tomato sauces (or sauces in general) as they can contain massive amounts of hidden oil and sugar!
If they have a grilled protein/fish option go for it... If it comes with a sauce, do your best to scrape it off or if possible ask for it on the side. Same with salad dressings - if they even have salads - ask for dressing seperately.
You do have to be careful about cheese at it is incredibly calorie dense.

If you do want a bit of a treat - have some diet coke / coke zero. That works for me! It's something sweet and something I haven't had for quite a while. Apart from that, do your best and stay away from alcohol if possible. :) Don't stress though if you can't do a lot - just have small portions of what is given. -- After all it is just one day and it is YOUR day! Enjoy it a little! ;)
