Fasting before a cholesterol test 'is a waste their time'

Jim

Big Boy
Researchers found that the tests were as accurate if patients had eaten beforehand as if they had followed recommendations to fast for up to 14 hours.

Interesting, my Dr makes me fast every year before my annual medical. By the time I've had m,y tests I could eat someones leg off. :D

Hi Jim,
I have also heard this before - that in a fasting blood cholesterol only the triglycerine part is affected by diet, the other variables (the HDL and LDL cholesterol) are not affected by food before the test.
I think thats is these two HDL and LDL that are the most important- the good and bad cholesterol.

Please correct me if I am mistaken anyone.

(I never bother to fast for blood tests by the way.):D

I wouldn't have bothered Jen, but I've always been instructed to. I won't bother in future that's for sure.
