First week...

Just thought I would post to say I am new to here, but so pleased I have found this forum! I have started slim and save for the first time ever this monday just gone. I have about 6 stone to lose, and a 6 month old who keeps me on my toes! The first few days on this diet have been hell, honeslty I nearly caved. But yesterday and today I feel a lot better and not hungry much anymore. I usually have an oatmeal/porridge sachet in the morning, shake or soup for lunch, shake or bar for snack, then a meal sachet for dinner. Is this ok? Or do most of you just stick to the shakes?

Have any of you got any tips to help me through this? I am reallllllyyy missing proper food! (doesn't help when my other half is having sausages, chips, and beans for dinner in front of me!)

Thanks :)

It does get easier, honestly! Well done for not caving, just stick with it and weigh day will spur you on. I'm doing 3 slim and save meals plus 200g veg and 100g protein. I started on the 4 packs a day but having the protein each day gives me some feeling of normality!

Hi Hannah, and welcome. Well done on getting through the first few days, they can be hell!

I have porridge for brekkie, soup for lunch, meal pack for evening meal and lemon crunch bar (my favourite ever!) later in the evening. I sometimes mix up the packs during the day, sometimes a shake instead of the meal or soup, but always porridge and bar x I have been back on track 100% since Monday and so far, after only 4 days, I have lost 9lbs!

Thanks girls! I really have found the first few days hell. It's starting to get better but I really am missing proper food! Does that feeling ever go away?

Well done on your first week!

I'm starting Monday and I'm a little scared if I'm totally honest. I suppose it's just the feeling of the unknown.

I'm glad I found this forum as I can see there's a lot of support and advice

Hiya

Maybe the 3 packs a day and then a 100g protien and 200g veg meal would be more suited to you if you are missing the meal?
Also on the 4 packs a day plan you can still have the 200g of veg, are you having the veg with your meal pack in the eve?

I am doing the 3 pack a day because I couldn't cope with the 4 pack plan I don't think.. I am really enjoying doing the 3 and then a 'normal' meal in the eve

I have a shake for breakfast, a meal pack for lunch which is either a soup or meal and a bar in the afternoon with a coffee and then i have a meal in the evening simular to what i am cooking for the hubby
For eg. i either do us both chicken or fish ( chargrilled tuna steak, salmon fillet etc) or omelette and then cook him the rice, pasta, spud etc and i have mine with either salad or veg. I have stir frys or steamed or roasted, I am finding new ways to cook veg, i love grating cauliflower to make fake rice or turnips or swede into chips to roast.
The other night i did the hubby normal sausage and mash and i had the same...2 x sainsbury good to know low fat sausage and i had swede & turnip mash and then some roasted asparagus spears...it was lovely!
I think the key for me is felling like I am not missing out so I get creative so I feel like i am having the same as hubby and I'm really enjoying my evening meal

Hope that helps and gives you some more ideas

kat x

I split my packs broadly into 2 meals one that I have at noon and the second in the evening. I usually have half a meal pack mixed with meat and veg followed by half a bar and half a crispy shake mixed up together. I repeat the same in the evening. I sometimes mix it up a bit. Eg half a mac cheese mixed with mushrooms and spring onions & chicken, followed by half a choc truffa and choc crispy shake. Then later I could have a half cottage pie with meat/veg followed by half a coconut choc bar and crispy shake. Yum.

To start the day and not go nuts with lack of food, I drink a pint of weakened black coffee and follow it with plenty of herbal teas, usually mint. I've big breakfast and then he can go all day without eating when tried spacing out the packs over a 12 hour period ie 7am-7pm, but I find I feel really deprived by the evening. It works for me but I've never been a breakfast person, never been hungry in the morning, but have always needed to eat in the evening. Hubby is completely different, he's doing up day down day, he has to have a large breakfast then can go all day without eating. I'd be climbing the walls.

love s&s! So much variety and their food rocks!

Thanks girls! I really have found the first few days hell. It's starting to get better but I really am missing proper food! Does that feeling ever go away?

There are still times when I want food however that want is over ridden by the fact that I know I don't need it anymore and also that food is the reason I was so unhappy with myself. Most of the food I really wanted I have no desire to eat, the hubby had a take away pizza last weekend and all I could see was grease, didn't want any at all.

I hope your still going strong, it's worth it! X

Thanks for all your replies :) I am still going strong and definitely feel I have lost weight this week :) really excited about weigh in on Monday! I measures my waist today and I've lost 4 inches!!! Amazing! Didn't even know that was possible! I am finding it easier every day :)

That's great Hannah! I'm loving sns, it's the first diet I have managed to stick to for more than 3 days. I love the ease of it. With normal low cal diets I just made all the wrong choices, eating chocolate and then going with out an evening meal to make up for it! With the sns bars, I feel like I'm having chocolate everyday!

Well done Hannah - 4 inches from your waist, that is fantastic ! What an amazing start.

I also started on Monday, I did do S&S at the beginning of the yr and lost 3 stone in just under 3 months, which was great. But had a family bereavement and it all went a bit pear shape (literally !). I think my advice is make sure you drink your water. I drink 3 litres, it really does help you not feel too hungry. Another thing I do is change between 3 packs + protein or 4 packs on a daily basis. Not sure if others do it, but I just find that it mixes the diet up and also I don't feel like I'm missing out at meal times when I do sit down with the family, or need to go out to dinner etc. I love S&S for its flexibility, I did the Cambridge diet and did very well (had to come off it as fell pregnant after 8 weeks), but just found that it was so constraining. I felt like a hermit who couldn't socialise.

Wishing you well in your weigh in on Monday, I've resisted weighing this week ... hoping for a very good suprise on Monday,I hope you have one too ! :)

Weigh in today and I am sooooo happy! 16.25 inches off and 11lbs lost in a week!!! I could cry tears of joy :) :)
