Foods for the Gym...

Hi All...

Can anyone tell me what foods i should be eating in the morning to give me a boost for the gym, and how long before i go to the Gym i should be eating them?

I am doing cardio excercise at the moment, for weight loss.

Oatmeal (made with water and cooled with a little milk and sweetened with powdered sweetener or maple syrup or date syrup) or a protein based meal replacement shake perhaps? Even scrambled eggs with three whites and one yolk on a piece of wholemeal/granary/brown toast...ooh and time before gym, an hour or more...
