freezing foods

    I am going to make the kids a bolognaise sauce using mince that was previously frozen. Once the sauce is made will i be able to freeze it?

    Personally, I would say yes. I do this all the time.

    But.........I don't know what the 'official' view is on these things. My thoughts are if you heat it through enough all germs will be killed anyway.

    I think its fine if the sauce doesnt have the mince in it. If it does then I would say no coz I have always been told that you shouldnt refreeze anything that has been previously frozen!!

    if the mince was raw when originally frozen and was cooked before re-freezing then that will be fine.

    I agree with Circes, if it was raw when it was frozen originally then its ok to re-freeze as long as its now cooked! J x

    You shouldnt refreeze anything thats thawed out and is being refrozen in its original state. If though you defrost it and cook it you can refreeze it in its 'new' state :)
