Gammon advise needed

A bit off topic but... I am going to boili a gammon joint I got in Asda and Im wondering do I have to take the papery film off? You know the one that holds it all together, not the outer plastic as I know that has to come off lol

I leave it on while boiling and then peel it off when it's cooled down a little. It holds it together otherwise it would just fall apart in the pot.
