Hey Guys

Me and my partner have decided instead of saving up to go to Vegas for a week get married there and then honeymoon in New York for a week and Florida for two, we are going to see if we can afford this year to go to a beach somewhere and get married, only problem is i dont know anyone who has done this and have no idea where i could go, going to see a travel lady on Sat to see what they can give me...

If anyone has done this how much did it cost and where did you go?

Thanks :p

hi Kellybeeb! we got married in Vegas in 1999, we booked it through the travel agent 6 weeks before we went. I took my own dress but depending on which package you choose they can include flowers, limo, photo's, video etc. it was fantastic, we got married in the Little White Chapel and went for a fabulous meal with champagne at the top of the stratosphere tower, we loved all the amazing casinos, went on helicopter ride to the grand canyon, did some indoor skydiving and we had the most excellent time; 10 years on i wouldn't change it for the world, i'm so glad we did it that way as it was soooo much cheaper than a wedding at home. When we got back we had a big party for all friends and family so we still got all the pressies too (yay!)

xx

...oh and i came home with a little extra something in the oven!!

xx

I got married in the Caribbean ten years ago.
It was wonderful, just the two of us and no hassle. We came home and had a HUGE party afterwards.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them.

Hi,

I got married in Pahos in Cyprus 3yrs ago. It was amazing. We booked through Thomas Cook although it was a Thomson a la carte holiday. We stayed at the annabelle hotel and we married in paphos town hall and had the reception back at the hotel.

It really was fantastic, thomas cook were really good too and all the stress of getting married was really something we didn't encounter. We had 25 people fly out with us and for the 2 of us for 2wks it cost £2200 but that was discounted because of the large party. The wedding fees (town hall, cake and photographer) cost £750 as a package to Thomas Cook. We then paid about £150 for our photographs (wayyy cheaper than here!) and about £110 for flowers (that was for bouquet, corsages and buton holes for 25ppl). The meal we had was £35pp in the hotel and about £200 for champagne/drinks, £100 for cars. The hotel had set the place up beautifully for us. There are tons of hetels in the area though ranging from 3*-5* that do wedding packages though so the prices do vary.

I can't recommend Paphos enough, it was a fantastic place, jam packed with restaurants and pubs/clubs, loads of jewellers and places to visit. It was just gorgeous.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

A friend of mine got married in barbados then had a massive party when she got home, :) they sent invites to the party as an announcement before they flew out. :)

My neighbours daughter is due to get married in 5 weeks abroad.. can't remember where but somewhere that people into dance music go.. ayinappa or something.. don't ask me how to spell it! lol Looks lovely on the website and they've been there to check it out - in case it was a holiday from hell job ;) They're having a week there, get married then 2 weeks somewhere else.

I think it's quite common for package holidays now to do this type of thing. :)

Good luck! :) and congratulations - hope you'll be as happy as my hubby and I are! :D

ooo good luck, vegas sounds great:)

i want to get married in Cuba as its the most beautiful place i have ever been and i know for a fact the in-laws wont come :D;)

We're getting married in Florida this August. We have booked through a wedding planner that was recommended to us.
Can't wait! Good luck with the planning! xx

Hi there,

I got married in New England (America) on New Years Eve 4 years ago and it was amazing. Lots of snow and I took my dress with me on the plane. Go to the travel agents as they really helped me out. I went with a virgin wedding package and we even got upgraded on the plane which was fabulous. We then went onto Cancun, the Moon Palace which was out of this world for 10 days follwing 7 in New England. We took 6 guests with us and was a complete blast. Go for it, you will not regret it.

p.s. it cost is about £3000 for myself and my husband including car hire. B&B in New England (but food cheap in america) and all inclusive in Cancun.

Hi Kelly! Me and my hubby got married in Sri Lanka and then went onto the Maldives for our honeymoon, it was absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend it, it was way cheaper than a wedding in this country, and we went all out and stayed in a water bungalo, so our views were just of beautiful blue green sea which we could just jump into. It was pure luxury, just the two of us went and sent out invitations for a big party for when we got back to announce it :D

Hi

We got married on the beach in Florida about 18 months ago - just the two of us and our two kids. Absolutely perfect. Can give you more details if it's the kind of thing you're thinking of.

have fun!

Yeah i really want to go to america just thinking it may be too expensive how much did it cost roughly?

I got married last Feb at the Empire State building, was there for 4 days, came home had a party the next weekend then went to Canada in April for an awesome honeymoon.

My best advice to you would be if you get married abroad try to find a local planner and in the US even better if they live in the town you're getting wed. We went direct to ultimate USA weddings, who are the people that all the travel companies use for NY weddings and we saved £3000 which would've been the agents commission.

Also don't panic, the hardest bit to organise for us was the party 3 miles down the road, not the wedding or the honeymoon!

The stay in NY inc flights and brilliant hotel was £500 per person and the wedding was about £2000. We did really well with the exchange rate at the time. If you shop in tesco make sure you convert points to airmiles, we saved up and used them to spend our wedding night at the Waldorf Astoria for a basic room and because we'd emailed them so much and got friendly with them we got upgraded to a £3k a night suite, which I spent the whole day in getting ready and was such a bonus.

I'd suggesnt if you're doing all that traveling in one go to make sure that whoever you take with you, if you do, takes back all your wedding gear. and it depends on the tiem of year, the climate in NY is totally different to FL and LV at the same time year.

best tip , research it all!

This is what I might do in the future...thanks ladies!
