Got Measured For A New Bra Now Very Confused

scorpio dawny

keeps on trying
I got measured in debenhams. the lady measured under my bust and said i was a 40c, id been wearing a 38c from ms and this had been ok but the support was going, i can't understand how ive gone up a size when i measure under my bust im 37inch. i also thought you were meant to measure across the bust as well.

They measure under the bust for the number and across the bust for the letter.

I would try again with M&S if you are happy with their bras anyway. Trinny and Susannah did a programme on bras and they were measured different everywhere they went!

you measure under bust and add 3 if it odd number and 2 or 4 if it even but its only a guide all bras fit different I have a 38 b that more like a d cup lol bra companies need to get act together lol

thank you mel shall have to read a few times to take it all in.
Mandy thank you too its so confusing all bras do fit differently iv also got a ms 36c fits fine but the cups are to small.

I have never found a bra that fits using the add inches to what you actually are method! Always ended up with bras that fell down my back. I find Bravissimo fitters take a good approach by avoiding measuring you and making you try on different sizes and styles till you find some that fit!

iv neither heard of them before are they all over England

They have quite a lot of shops now but they are specialist because they are for more well endowed ladies like me so they may not be right for you if you are being offered a C cup but the same general approach in other shop might help.

Bravissimo are great for measuring and I went from a 44DD to a 38G in on swoop....

A couple of things to bear in mind when tryin on bras are that it should when you first put it on feel quite tight on the loosest strap this allows for as it's washed and stretches you can tighten it to the other hooks....

The lady in Bravissimo told me that you put the bra on, do it up, lean forward, put your hand inside the bra and cup your boobie and kind of scoop it and jiggle it into position... You shouldn't have any boobie still over the top - ie smooth line (unless it's a push up kinda bra I gues???)... the straps should be pulled up quite tight too as this is what 'hoicks' the boobies up and gives them the support....:D

Hope this helps.....

How can they be good? They've obviously stolen some of your boobage :)

I hate bras :)

I've ben wearing b cups for years. (aka egg cups) Got measured properly and should have been in 36d or 34 dd!! Much better! Haven't taken off the shop labels yet, and am wearing them inside out for all to see!

No Leah it was very, very good..... the 44DD was too big round the back and this meant that my boobies were like spaniels ears drooping towards my waist.... the 38G (actually it was a GG - not a horse a GG bra....lol:eek::D) meant that it was a firm fit round the back and the boobs (once hoicked and jiggled about of course) sat perfect.... the straps were pulled high and my boobies were riding high in the chest area where they should be....!!! I am an advocate for proper fitted bras now and have to resist the urge to tell people when their bra doesnt fit properly....:eek:
