Greeneyes will PERSEVERE.........

So lovely to see you here Greeneyes and happy to hear things aren't too bad, if you know what I mean ;) I relate to the mini binge thing and that's what I started to do when I finished CD the second time. I found by eating more calories in my planned meals, that stopped because I was getting enough food. Hope all your family is well

Okay, so I am failing badly, I have put on just over a stone since my CD goal and slightly less since my weightwatchers goal... obviously the goal is not the problem but maintaining is. Started with Slimming World, desperate to find something I can use once reaching goal, but after being good all week and fluctuating between putting on and losing the same 1lb, I caved yesterday and after an 8 mile walk went to a carvery which was all good until I piled a massive pile of roast potatoes on my plate instead of the unappealing boiled ones... then to top it had a massive chocolate fudge sensation... wont explain what it is but believe me probably contained a whole weeks worth of calories. I guess the problem was I was quite slim when at goal and I bought tons of pairs of jeans, now none of them fit without a massive muffin top, so I have nothing to wear, so am desperate to lose the weight fast, so thinking CD, but know I need to find a way of living with food afterwards, Slimming World seems to be the thing as you can eat a lot of the right foods but I want to lose the weight now as I need to fit into my clothes... am now getting as depressed as I was on Cambridge and dont know what to do.... can I really give up food for a month (which will include my birthday) to lose a stone in weight...?

Hey there

Sorry to hear you are finding things tough at the moment. I would urge caution about jumping back onto CD only because ultimately it doesn't solve anything and you may end up in a viscious cycle of yo-yoing.

I found the difficulty with trying to follow a weight loss system for healthy eating like SW or WW when in maintenance is that you end up feeling like you are constantly on a diet and it can be counter productive. For example, what you ate when you were out yesterday is completely normal, if I went for a pub lunch I would eat exactly the same type of things. If you give yourself more flexibility you then avoid feeling like you are depriving yourself.

I understand that you still want to lose some weight but perhaps for the moment just focus on stabilising your weight, you can then come back to thinking about losing a bit more when you are feeling stronger about maintenance.

Hugs
xx

Hey Linda, I really feel for you because it was was what I was going through - got to a nice low weight, bought loads of clothes and then they didn't fit at all and it is depressing.

I battled for weeks and months over what to do, actually thinking that the hard thing is not the losing, but the maintaining. Wondering what I would do after if I do go back to CD. I 100% agree with Porgeous. What you ate wasn't so bad and quite normal - that's just what people do when they go out to eat. I also think that things like SW, WW and CD are great, but not necessarily the best thing for maintaining because you're always going to be counting something.

I started south beach diet before CD and didn't lose much - 2lb per week for 1st 2 weeks, but I like that it's just low GI really. You don't have to count things and the foods that you do eat you can eat in abundance. You still have to try and make good choices, but it keeps you satisfied so that you're less like to make the wrong ones.

I hope you're okay hun - I really do know how horrible it is to have got to what you think is perfect and then feel like you have to battle back xx

I know just how you feel Linda and am in exactly the same position. We went out to friend's for supper last night and I only fitted into a pair of black jeans which didn't look good.....felt miserable about that but enjoyed the party.

As ever, starting today with a shake and all good determination, by tonight I'll have blown it again I'm sure.....Liz is my inspiration at the moment. I'll try to eat sensibly tonght and join her tomorrow I think. I'm sure Porgeous is right and I was very pleased to read that she would have eaten the same and that it is normal - my thinking gets skewed after so long - but like you I need to be able to wear something more than a pair of jeans which don't fit well and I an NOT buying bigger sizes. That would just make me give up. Here I am in tracky bottoms and a T shirt because I'm going in the garden, but I'm not going back to that wardrobe ever again!

Thanks Bess :) Made me smile, as I am also sat here in tracky bottoms! Oh and just caught a glimpse of the gorgeous Holly Willoughby on This Morning, Sunday..great! lol.

Thanks for all your comments, have just bought another 2 pairs of leggings which will go with a few long tops I have.... the thing is I am around 1 stone 5lb from my goal with CD, I was that weight when I finished CD last August and dont want to be that much heavier so feel I have to lose the weight again and then be able to maintain...

Porgeous I understand what you are saying about CD, I feel I am yoyoing at the moment as I put on a stone, lost it with WW, put on a stone that I now need to lose and it is the maintaining that I need to do, but I really need to lose that stone again before I maintain... does that make sense.

Liz, I think maybe south beach diet is similar to Slimming World as you can eat as much as you like of good foods and count syns for bad foods like bread, cakes etc, but you can each as much meat with all the fat cut off, vegetables, fruit etc that you like which does help... it just means the weight comes off slowly.... I really have a jumbled head at the moment...

Greeneyes, feel your pain... I am struggling too. No answers... Porgeous is very wise, I know, but like you I find it hard to resist the pull of CD. Sending a hug.

Hi Linda - Nice to hear from you but sorry that you are struggling! Most of us are finding it hard and I don't feel like I've stopped dieting since reaching goal weight. I have weeks when I'm maitaining effortlessly but most of the time I put on a few lbs then panic and decide to do a diet; lose a few lbs then get bored and put them back on; panic and decide to do yet another diet and so on. I have recently paid out for WW online despite the fact that I'm already paying for weightlossresources which is more or less the same thing. I've never used it so it was a complete waste of money - but made me feel more in control at the time of buying!

I guess the answer (if there is one) is different for everyone which doesn't help. I find that I'm better if I relax a little. The problem is that I've spent years stressing and fretting over food (hating it and loving it in nearly equal quantities) and letting go and simply enjoy is hard.

I have no advise to give you - but plenty of sympathy and hugs as I know how you feel!

Take Care

Great Post from Alli there!

It's so true with the relaxing thing, for the last few weeks i've been stressing about bridesmaids thing and looking good in my dress and wanting to get back under 10st , I was using shakes a little again and trying not to panic over a few lbs but panicking anyway and so typical that since the wedding is over and I am back to 'normal' i am calm and relaxed and scales are moving back down again.
I find the more i stress the more i eat carbs and gain more on the scales waterwise which becomes a kind of vicious circle.
I think Liz's idea of southbeach/low GI has helped me too, it's more of a way of eating rather than a 'diet' as such I've been reading a few books on this recently and incorporating a few ideas into my way of eating like the good carbs = only 1 quarter of my plate and veg = half of plate, fruits are good snacks with yoghurt and making sure i have protein with any carbs.
Very interesting i must say.

Hope you can relax again soon and find the way of eating that suits you.

Have a great week hun!

xx

Hi all, well I lost 2lbs in my first week on Slimming World... not sure how that happened, you can just eat as much as you like of most foods, I realise that I like to have the full feeling which this diet definately gives you and thatis my problem normally I think. Normally I eat but I never feel really full and so then have a snack (healthy of course) but then end up eating way too much. So far this is a great diet but not the big losses that CD gave you, but I feel I need to get the eating right and not restrict food any longer. It was also my TOTM week and I do retain water and didn't expect to lose anything.

Lelly I understand what you mean about being relaxed, everything is so much easier being relaxed... I guess I want to get back into my jeans right now and CD would help me achieve that, but I think by doing Slimming World and losing the weight slowly it is teaching me a better way of eating so that I feel full and can still lose weight if I want to. So far according to my scales I have lost another 2lb this week, but I am off to MacDonalds soon for an Ice Cream Sundae, but I will try and fit it in with my syns... nothing is a no no on this diet.
Anyway, will be back to let you know my official weight loss this week.
Glad to see that you are doing okay Katy, have a great trip away and dont do too much spying...

Alli thank you for your comments I know exactly where you are coming from, that is definately what I have been doing too.
Take care everyone xx

Well done on the 2lbs - that's great. Especially as you can eat so much. I know exactly what you mean about feeling full, or not feeling full.
I never really feel full. I often joke after a main meal that I could still eat a pizza!

Well had my WI today and have lost 4lb this week which made me slimmer of the week (was so embarrassed dont like drawing attention to myself), and this was despite having a Macdonalds strawberry Sunday, a Lamb Rogan Josh (cooked my own boiled rice) and a bottle of wine Saturday night to celebrate my birthday which is tomorrow. Tomorrow some of the children go to Cubs and we wont all be together for dinner then... and I have a course to go to aswell....
So really pleased, I can eat so much and still lose so much weight... am aiming for 1lb or more next week to make my first 7lb.

Happy birthday! Hope you are having a lovely day and get spoiled rotten :birthday: xxx

After weighing myself every day this week and finding the weight piling on each day (not fluctuating, just going on) and not doing anything different to last week, and wondering how I can eat so much and still lose weight, I went to a new CDC this morning and am starting CD again as from tomorrow morning. I am going to sole source to my 25 bmi and then lose the rest hopefully moving up the plans.... I always wanted to get down to 9 stone 7lb and didn't before so that is my goal this time, so that is nearly 2 stone to lose.... wish me luck.

Hiya, awww you're back on CD then. Having read a few diaries I see I'm not the only one struggling. In fact it looks like most of us have been struggling. Come on Greeneyes.....we can do this. We've done it before.....i'll be keeping an eye on your diary.Hugs xxxxxxxxxxx

Good luck, go for it - it obviously feels like the right decision for you. Having read some of the returners posts, it clearly isn't easy going back onto CD hardcore, so I wish you all the best.

Well I had a kebab last night, last meal and all that plus a bottle of wine and am back on CD 100% today, sole source. Fortunately after going to the CDC yesterday morning (and she is different to who I saw before and she is lovely and much more supportive) DH's name was called out on Absolute Radio yesterday afternoon asking him to ring the radio station for a competition. He did even though he thought it was a wind up and won the competition live on air. We are going to Johannasburg in July to see the quarter finals of the World Cup, flights, transfers, 4* hotel with 3 nights accomodation and tickets to the quarter final on 2nd July.... oh my how exciting is that. So 2 stone to lose, 2 months to do it to get to goal for our trip away. What an incentive... so really need to stick to it 100% to shift as much weight as possible....
