Has anyone experienced this at all? Mine is coming out at quite an alarming rate suddenly and I'm pretty worried about it.

Any tips or advice would be greatly received x

I was warned by my CDC that this may happen. Don't worry it should come back even thicker maybe soon don't stress that will only make it worse. In the meantime you can get something called Hair & Nails form Holland & Barrett and other health stores it is a supplement and is fab it won't effect your diet either. Also Morrocan Oil is fantastic it's a bit pricey at about £20 a bottle but well worth the investment. If you know anyone who is going to Morocco always ask them to get you a bottle hair loss or not. It makes it thick and shiney and improves hair growth also. It is only about £7 there :-( I will have a look for a link online for you xx

ooo hold on just remembered you live in Egypt... do they sell it there? You should be able to get the supplements online also quite cheap

remember that the hair you have is already dead. anything you put on it might make it look thicker, but can't make it stronger or longer.

vitamin supplements might be a good idea, though - and also you could consider the specialist shampoos for male patten baldness that stimulate the scalp - it sound like hokum but there is *some* evidence that if you increase blood flow in an area that new hair grows in faster.

I know you've said you'll wash it less, and obvioously use lots of conditioner because you don't want to be tugging hair our when you brush. similarly, avoid tight ponytails (also, hairloss looks less apparent when your hair is down - putting itt up can make it easier to see any thinner patches against the scalp).

I know you've not long had a new 'do' but going shorter will also make your hair look fuller... but if you find that idea upsetting, don't do it! Half the battle with coping with thinning hair is an emotional one. it rarely looks as bad as the upset it causes would suggest.

as i told you, i lost some hair when i was in a stressful job some years back, and it is incredibly upsetting... but it will come back - it is already coming back, that's why you're noticing it now: because you're eating, the new growth is pushing out all the old stuff.

xxxxx

you get it when you start going up the steps and eating more, it started for me a few weeks ago and is not as bad now as it was.

Yep, I've had that happen before on CD and I fully expect for it to happen again especially as I'm planning to keep going this time until I get to goal. :D

Don't panic too much - it often looks like you're losing quite a bit of hair but usually it's not as much as you think - and it definitely does grow back. It's just one of those things, I'm afraid, and it's triggered by the shock of actually going on the diet in the first place. In the past, I've read here that people have given up Cambridge because they're so worried that they're going to lose even more hair, but it doesn't work like that - the damage is done in the first week and it takes between 12 and 15 weeks for it to show up (in the form of hair loss). You don't keep shedding hair - it'll stop after a week or two.

Thanks ladies. Has been a bit of a worry but am fine now and going it'll stop asap! Its reassuring to know that its not about my diet now, but my diet when I started so I can continue! Lucky I live in a country where head scarfs fit in! Xx

Hahaha Vi - I have been admiring a girl in a hijab today - very fashionable suddenly in liverpool, a hijab, full face of make-up (arabic style) and a short skirt with opeque tights, yes, thats right...go figure, she was clearly showing off her new pins post CD and covering up the fact that she was a tad sparse up top.

It happened to me the first time round which GUTTED me as my wig is my crowning glory, BUT it comes back with vengence. Lily (as usual) speaks the truth, the hair is beyond salvage as in a VLCD your body goes into a sort of shock and stops feeding the non essential bits of your bod, so hair is the first to get it, followed by nails, followed by teeth obviously it takes a long time, but I have heard of people getting into teeth trouble while on a VCLD before. Several on here in fact...anyway thats only for those people who just continue on the diets themselves I think, and who lose a lot of weight and dont take care of the calciummy.

You will be fine and your lush bonce wont need a lace wig - dont sweat it. That said, start wearing your hijab around town, it's worth it just for the kudos.
