Half marathon training

i get blisters about a mile and a half in s run, even wearing blister socks.

toes always bleed too. does anyone elses toes bleed?

Gina do you have the correct size trainers?
You need to go atleast half a size maybe even a full size bigger than your normal shoe size with your runners.

I suffered with bad toes and even lost both of my big toenails and it was down to wearing the wrong size. X

You should also go to a specialist shop to have your probation measured! Your shoes might be supporting you in the wrong part of your foot! They can help you find the best shoes for your running form!xx

im usually a size 6 but in my runners im a 7, the bleeding toes dont hurt it just feels funny in my sock :S

on a plus note, i did the half marathon walk last night! got 10 minutes off last years timing even with toilet breaks (didnt drink anything last years so i could avoid the portaloo's!!) really pleased about it.
hobbling around today, my hips, back and arms are aching bad. no leg ache though....
fastest were around 3hr 40/45 and slowest were 5hrs.

i dont actually know, theres no mark on my feeso it could well be the nail itself. they seemed to do it more in my old trainers, my runners arnt too bad. only seem to do it when i stumble in them. (very clumsy....)

It's pronation/gait analysis! The measure how you run and can recommend trainers suited towards your running style!!xxx

Aha! Problem solved. You could be wearing the wrong trainers despite them being the right size.

Go to a good sports shop or running shop (sweatshop does it of you have one near and I think they do it for free but if they do charge it's not v.expensive usually less than £10) and get your gait analysed. It's the way you run. You'll either be a neutral runner, over pronate or under pronate. For the 3different ways in which people run there are different trainers designed to help the way you run to a more neutral style.

I overpronate and so have trainers specifically for that. Gait analysis is a must for runners :) it will help correct your stride and posture too :)

i did a foot shape type, and it showed me as neutral :)
my old trainers are a size 6, my gym class trainers.

Well done on your run, especially in this heat!

I agree with Summer, gait analysis is a must. I also over pronate and run so much better and injury free since getting the right trainers.

Well done on your walk Gina!

EEkkkk....4 weeks till race day!! Did anyone cut down on long runs before your race? If so, when did you do this? And how much did you cut down by?xx
