We've not had ours long, so have not needed to WASH it out yet. It has always wiped out with a damp cloth up until now.
The food sits in a container on a rack IN the bowl, so you would not normally need to move the bowl itself, except after washing. But the lid with the heating element in IS heavy - and hot - and has to be lifted right off to get to the food, and put down somewhere suitable, so it DOES need some thought!
Your best bet CG would be to actually see one, and handle the bowl and the lid to see how it feels. The other point is, that when it's standing on the worktop, you have to lift the hot food container UP out of the bowl, which is a fair height, and needs consideration.
Having said that, it must be far more economic, is fun to use, and is, dare I say it, a bit of a 'boys thing', which is very lucky in this house, we'd starve if Hubby didn't do the cooking!!!
