any pinks mean u r in ketosis...only the beige one means ure not. however, it being the darkest ones means u arent drinking enuff water. it may be that u r drinking enuff but u may have used stick after a pack so get a higer reading. only u know if u r taking enuff water but if u keep getting that reading i would drink a couple more litres a day

    welcome to ketosis

The good news is you are in ketosis. The bad news is you are very dehydrated, you need to drink lots more water. The best result to get is the 2nd or 3rd colour up from the bottom. If it is the bottom colour that means you are in ketosis.

Hope this is clear for you and well done for getting into ketosis, enjoy it!

Please do not drink too much all at once as this can be dangerous, best to spread it throughout the day.

The minimum is four pints of water throughout the day plus the water you use to mix your shakes with.

I am confused.I was on Lighterlife for 2 months and had great results but my group all left due to illness, health and I am only one left so have decided to leave and join cambridge diet as no point paying for counselling if i do not get. Anyway, so I bought ketostix and tested myself. I was in ketosis, 2nd pink then I did later on and was beige. Can it change or is it due to lateness of night and water consumed. should i do in morning??

Do it in the moring - it will be high as your body is naturally dehydrated cos you have been asleep.

Late on all the water reduces the result

    is that good news??

Prolonged ketosis can be dangerous as it can change the acidity of your blood, which may eventually lead to serious damage to your liver and kidneys.

Why would you want to do that to yourself hun?

Not always though. Mine went beige for the whole 8 stone :D

Ouch. The article where you got this info is very misleading. Ketosis is safe and ketogenic diets are used for a number of conditions. Even for children with epilepsy.

These VLCDs are approved, and often used by doctors, hospitals and pharmacists.

Cambridge (and possibly LT and LL) follow the NICE guidelines...so I guess the NHS doesn't really consider them dangerous;)

This article is off the NHS website

Ketosis Definition - Health encyclopaedia - NHS Direct

i only know about this as we were studying it at college a few weeks ago...your messing with your bodys natural functioning..and should only be done under supervision of a doctor or health visitor when extremely necessary :sigh:

Yes...I know the article, but it is misleading. For one thing is they say no more than 2 weeks, and the NICE guidelines say for much longer (Remembering that NICE are the guidelines for the NHS)

Besides, LL is under the doctor, LT is under the pharmacist (so guess thats okay), and CD all doctors are informed if one of their patients is doing one of the ketogenic stages of CD.

I remember when Boots the chemist were anti-ketogenic diets, then they found them to be okay and changed their rules about selling ketostix.:sigh:
