Help, going to friend's for dinner - how can I syn this??

C: 10st3lb G: 8st10lb BMI: 27

I am going to a friend's for a dinner party tonight and have no idea what she is cooking or what the syns will be. I'm still new to SW and would hate to gain in my 2nd week. Have only used 5 syns since Monday so have 40 left and I can use tomorrow's too making 55 if I have to...

I am going to try to stick to 2 glasses of wine and have had some fat free vegetable broth so I don't pick while I'm waiting for the meal, but am praying it's not really heavy on the cheese and cream (she's vegetarian).

I can't be rude and ask her how much fat is in everything ;) so any ideas how I can estimate the syn value when I get home tonight???

Oh, I am really looking forward to the company too (in case I sound a right misery!) :D I hope I'm not going to become a bore who can't enjoy socialising because of my diet - how do you ladies all handle it???

Why not take some SW friendly dishes with you - say you want to help ease the burden of her doing all the cooking - then you are at least able to stay within plan

Failing that be sensible - you know what the killer foods are - just try your best to make good choices

Or estimate the syns after the fact and try to recover before WI

But whatever you do just enjoy the meal as it is only one of 21 you will eat this week and nothing to get stressed out about :)

I would try not to stress about it too much - it is only one meal out of the week after all. Try and choose more veg/salad and less of the "dish" if it's creamy/cheesy. Use your HexA towards any cheese/milk in sauces, and go easy on the puddings. Save your syns and perhaps cut back a bit for the rest of the week, but don't worry too much if it's all high cal - this is a long term thing and there will always be occassions that might throw us off track, but as long as you get straight back on again, you will be fine.

Aw thanks ladies. Just got back - we had a lovely evening! Stuck to my 2 small glasses of wine and a tiny port, then we had houmous and stuff to start (I had mine with carrot sticks rather than bread) and then veggie lasagne, not too cheesy (more like ratatouille with a pasta lid) with loads of salad. So not too bad apart from the apple crumble pudding and cheese and biscuits, but at least I skipped the biscuits and used the cheese as my HEXa. I'm going to estimate about 50 syns to be on the safe side! NOW I have to contend with a housewarming party on Sunday, but that will be buffet so easier to avoid the food ! Yay! Off to the gym tomorrow too :cool:

You sound like you enjoyed yourself and haven't got too worked up about what you had, which is good. Anyway, it doesn't sound like too much damage was done.
