HELP!!! It's really not working right now!

I am really having some trouble! I have started training for my new job and this week has been so boring so my spirits have been down. We have lunch laid on for us while we are training and this week it's been in a hotel with lots of nice food that all has dressings that I'm sure are very Syn-ful.

I'm not eating much at home and I am getting my karate and kickboxing back on track so I am doing more exersize but it appears I have put on loads of weight this week. I'm dreading WI tonight as I feel really disappointed.

Now my party is looking more like 2009 than 2008!:cry:

Taz, omg woman, what are you like ??????

First of all, in order for any diet (h.e.p.) to be sucessful then it has to be able to cope with our every day lives without us feeling like we've failed. Yes you've had syns this week but you've not even been to get weighed yet and you've already got yourself up on the excecutioners block.

Taz dont even think about worrying until you step on those scales and THEN think about what you are going to do different next week.

I'm in a similar predicament. I gained 1/2 lb last week and had hoped for great things this week and I know its not happened with one thing or another but I'll deal with that later, after I've been on the scales.

Taz, your party will be this year, you'll be right on course for it without a doubt. Some extra salad dressing and a few naughty syns isnt going to de-rail your party plans. I've planned the dress I'm going to wear, so there, you have to have it now.

Go make yourself a cuppa, get to the weigh in and see whats what.

Trouble is, I'm so determined at the moment and I was feeling so possitive at the end of last week but it all seemed to do an about-turn this week. I have re-committed to my martial arts and have been careful at home. My scales are telling me bad things and I'm now feeling like it's all going in the wrong direction. You are right though, I should see what damage I have done after WI and re-evaluate then.

Honey I like your enthusiasm, reminds me of me, but perhaps you are trying to be too gung ho at everything sweetie. You have really upped your exercise quite substantially and it might be too much too soon.

Do not feel like a failure just because you may have had a slightly bad week foodwise (although your WI might surprise you). You are working very hard at it right now and it will happen, just don't expect miracles overnight so that you aren't dissapointed. Slow and steady wins the race!!! :) silly but true!

Next time this type of thing comes up, plan ahead and bring your own so you aren't so tempted!!

I did consider bringing my own lunch but it's awkward when everyone else is going to dinner and you have to sit alone in the meeting room! I found out that the other lady on my course has just joined SW so I will be able to chat to her about the best choices of what is on offer.

I'm just feeling generally low at the moment because the last 3 days have been so boring and also irrelevent to the job I will be doing which makes it boring AND annoying!

Hopefully from tomorrow the training will become more interesting and I will be a bit happier.

I put on a pound. I guess that's not as bad as I thought it would be but it still seems like a backward step. Ah well, start of a new week. See what happens next WI
Oh Taz hun, only now ive seen this post!

Im glad you ONLY put on 1lb, seriously hunny i wouldnt beat yourself up about that!

You also need to consider the fact that you are doing a hell of alot of exercise! and muscle weighs more than fat! So i would say you have put 1lb of muscle on ;)

Look at it that way. I would take my food into work with me, have always done so when im on a diet.
Stuff what everyone else thinks.....you got your party to look forward to!

So hun Get yer ass on it!;)

You will be fine, if you look at the past posts everyone seems to be dragging their feet......me included! its either the weather or we are waiting in baited breath for some sunshine...because lets face it- it does cheer us up!

Chin up now pet you will be just fine!

Taz, 1lb is easily lost, well done for going to class, just see it as a fresh week now.

I know what you mean about not wanting to look like the odd one out at work lunches, I feel exactly the same, sometimes it's not possible to eat lunch away from people. I normally have to schmooze with kn*bs at lunch if I'm away at a meeting, which means sitting and eating with them.

However, have a neutral breakfast and decide what day you have when you see what is on offer. If it's hot food I normally go for red and have meat and veggies, if it's a buffet I'll have a sandwich and then loads of carrot sticks and fruit etc. It's a real test, but you can and will do it girly.

With all the extra activity you're doing with your martial arts I'll bet you that 1lb + more is gone by next week.

sorry to hear of your stresses. Steph and Time4Action gave you some really good advice so not really sure that i can add to that.
hopefully you're feeling back on track now and a 1lb is not really too much to worry about.
what can you take from this experience?
skinnymonkey - do you know what happened? hopefully there is something that you can learn from it going back on. (at least it was a 2.5lb that you'd already lost)

Thanks guys. Louise you are right about choosing which day when I see what is on offer and I think that is how I will play it.

Today I was not so good. Thursday being the day after WI is always my 'fat day' when I eat pretty much what I want then behave for the rest of the week. I had porridge for breakfast then went with one of my colleagues to KFC for lunch. All I had was a mini fillet without mayo and a tiny box of popcorn chicken and small fries. I felt bloated and fat after and I thought to myself "was that really worth it?" I think it probably wasn't and I won't be visiting KFC again in the near future!
Opps never mind hun.
Just try and keep focused.......its so difficult when you are in situations you have no control of like work meetings etc!

Think about what your going to do next, and look forward not back.

Good advice Ruthy. I have a lot to look forward to and a million reasons why I want to shift the weight it's just a shame I can't think of these things BEFORE I put crap in my mouth! I really have no will power
Boll*x you have no will power! of course you got will power! now your in a rut because you have been placed in situations that are totally out of control ( meetings in work etc).

Now whats the real issue here? is it because your finding it hard in work at lunch times because of what every else is doing or just in general?

You will be fine hun.

Stop worrying and read your books, and write it down and im sure you will be just fine.

With all the excersise your doing you will lose loads.!

Thanks Ruthy. We got problems with our car at the moment and are hoping to get it back on Monday but if we don't then I won't be able to get to karate and kickboxing in the evening which will be really annoying as it's a 2 hour session
