Newishbie here! Been reading the zenical pages for a while to prepare. Got prescribed last week and managed to get a months supply this morning and well, I'm fully confused about the rules?? The doctor hasn't really explained anything and I'm following slimming world (so far lost 8.5lb in two weeks)

What are the main rules I should stick to?

Thanks in advance :)

There is a sticky at top of page but its basically eat foods that are less than 5% fat & no more than 15gms in a meal, 45gms for whole day. I think there are a couple others following slimming world & they are doing well x

Hi & welcome

The 5% rule is fat not saturated I am afraid......

As Sarah says there is a brilliant sticky that explains lots. Some things that should be ok some people have problems with & other things that really shouldn't be (for me eggs) were fine. It is a little bit trial & error at first.

Good Luck with your journey. If you want to join our Bank Holiday Challenge x

I will log on on my computer later and read the sticky thread!

Also bank holiday challenge sounds interesting. I need to reach my first goal which is 2 stone, so another 19.5lb to go :-(

I will add you to it then & put it as 19.5lb to lose by BH Monday, its 19 weeks tomorrow so that is 1lb a week & a sneaky 1/2lb somewhere.....

The sticky really is an absolute must to read, it was my bible for the first few weeks, then it just becomes second nature, honestly x

Well the first one is down the hatch, followed by trimmed steak and slimming world chips...hope I'm OK :-\ xx

If the chips are with frylight you should be ok, I have them a fair bit & as long as no fat on the steak you should be ok, I will say that red meat is higher in fat but I am sure you know that. There are a few members who follow SW with the tablets & they get on great. My main piece of advice is watch the cheese though as although its ok on SW xen isn't keen on it!!!!

Didn't use any oil just boiled then on a baking tray with some salt. Got chicken for all this week and I'm not even risking cheese! I'm too scared! Xx

Ohhhh, cheese - I had home made burger last night and had one weightwatchers cheese slice - 11% fat - I paid for it today :( I find generally if the rest of the meal is low fat I can sneak one bit of higher fat food in i.e. extra light salad cram (7% fat) is OK.. but that cheese seemed to really disagree with the xen!!

See for me the fear thing was what kept me on track. Even though I've been off them getting on for 2 months I still tend to eat within the rules. Maybe the fear of tango was worse than it would've actually been but I couldn't risk it happening...

And Hmmm no good mate, I didn't risk cheese at all while on xen. Even now I've had the smallest amount of half fat in some soup I make, it was probably about 15g max.....

I love cheese but not had any for the last two weeks. Especially love hallomi :-(

How do you get on with bread? Should I avoid it ? X

What if the serving is less than 100g? A ww hot chocolate is an 11g serving ?

You will need to look at the fat content for 100g serving and if it is 5g or less you will be ok :)

Sorry .. Hot skimmed milk, maybe with some sugar if you need it? I just drink milk now lol love love Cadbury hot choc powder!

There is a salad cheese tesco do (its a watery type thing) that is ok but I didn't bother, someone did though & said it was ok...

Bread, hell no don't avoid it just don't overdose on it as it can make you bloat. I decided I was giving so much up I was not going to give up on bread, I still eat white, yes white bread!!!

As for the hot choc I think the only ones that are ok are the options ones & not all of them.... Ignore the fat grams per serving, its per 100g you have to look at x

Low Cal hot chocolates have really helped with sugary cravings recently ! I'll have to find another option :) everyone is so helpful and I'm shocked at the amount of fats in things I eat already !!

We have all been where you are which is why we try our best to be helpful. Without the members on here I would have failed I know I would, they all keep me going!!!!

I was horrified that my Saturday snack after my tea was 1300 cals & 50g of fat!!!!!!
