holiday dilemma

I'm off on a holiday for 2 weeks to Italy and my absolute fav food is Italian food. Pizza not so much but pasta in any form I'll love. I have set myself some limits about the food I can eat(in the tiniest portions of course) as its silly to be on a half board holiday and not eat anything but my diet food. The limits are lots of salad, having fruit for dessert instead of tucking into unhealthy food, smallest portion of pasta as long as I do lots of walking that day to burn off half of what I've eaten and obv there will be no alcohol consumption because since I've gone on this diet I've been put off by alcohol. I know fruits is not on the list of foods to have but lets face it it's better than greasy slice of pizza. Also I won't be weighing my salad and I will add sweetcorn and few carrots because I'd rather fill up on veg than have a big portion of pasta. I was wondering of I should still buy 3 products per day or is that me being too hopeful. I've bought dresses that fit me very nicely right now and I'll be taking those with me and I know that if I eat stupidly then the dresses won't look nice at all..ordering products for 14 days is quite expensive. Was going to take bars and shakes and a blender ofcourse. Is there anyone who has taken products on holiday like me? If so then did u stick to it? How did u fit healthy food into it? Were u in ketosis all that time? Did u come off the plan for 2 weeks and just be conscious of what u ate?

I'm italian & i come from a huuuuge italian family where pasta & pizza is always on the menu.
I went on holiday with my best friend a couple of years ago when i was on Cambridge the first time, i took ALL of my shakes, 3 a day, and i stuck to it 100% with one meal the entire week, i came home and i remember i lost 6lb. I think it you want something bad enough you'll do whatever it takes. No reason why you can't have a good holiday without food, food isn't everything, as much as i USED to think it was.

I think u should do whatever makes u happy... It might just set u back a week if eat but youve not failed.. Jyst get back on it the week after!!And if u have a bloody good time then so wAt?? My fiancee is takin me to paris for my birthday in september and theres no way im going and having just my 3 cwp im fully prepared to have put on a few pounds.... But o well!! If u wana eat id just be quite strict on portion sizes, dont go nuts fill up on salads with a small side of pizza or pasta.
Just enjoy - dont worry about it. As my cdc says its life - life is for living. So live it!!! If u wana have a week a bit off plan then do it just get straight back on it the week after :) xxx

i've been on holiday constantly ove rthe past month! i went to turkey for a week with my OH, ate like a pig and put on 4lbs then lost 2lbs through SS before i went on a hen wkend 3 days later! put on another 2lbs on the wkend but now i'm on target to have lost 4lbs of that weight by tomorrow's weigh-in. that said, i'm off to majorca on an all-inclusive break for four days this wkend so whatever weight ive lost this week will go back on (and more!) when i'm away!

i took shakes to turkey, full off good intentions, but ended up not having any, im afraid i didnt have the willpower to stick to it when i was there but thats not to say you wont do it, so my advice is to take stuff with you and see how you feel. you've always got them as a falback then, i'd rather take shakes with me than be stuck without them in case i did want to be good and focus. maybe you could have 2 days on the diet and 1 day off, alternate that way so that you can treat yourself and stick to the diet in your own way.

for me personally, the good thing is that i've managed to get back on the diet in between the breaks without struggling so hopefully you'll be the same too when you return from your holiday! i think sometimes having a weight gain can make us CD-ers more determined to refocus on our long-term goals. i started a post-holiday thread on here which may help you when you get home to chat to others in your position. after majorca i have no breaks planned and i'm determined to shift my excess weight and get into the 8s once and for all!!

Thank you. I'm going to meet CDC in a min..let's see what she thinks. Food isn't everything but I dont get gorgeous Italian food and this is the last time I'm going there so I dont want to regret it. I'm thinking 3 products and 1 sensible meal with lots of salad. Will see what the CDC thinks as she is Italian too :D fingers crossed I don't get a telling off x

I would totally do what ur gonna - whats the point in going away to just have the shakes? U get one holiday, u can ressume this diet any time!! Apparently uve got to eat over 3500 cals to gain a proper pound - thats a lot of cals to consume!!!! Besides the weight you'll gain wont be proper weight gain it'll be water weight, which in theory should come off pretty fast the week after xx

It's all up to the individual. I'm on holiday now. In a country full of fresh veggies you pick up from an honesty box, a great tradition for , amazing seafood and generally all socialising is done around food. But I'm having my shakes. For me, I don't want to fail, I'm afraid the minute I give in I might do it again so for me it's easier to stick to it. You can always get good Italian food or go back again when you are at your goal :) good luck!

CDC said that its better to go on a holiday with limits rather than be off plan completely. I said to her that I don't plan on eating greasy food but I do plan on eating fruit and veg that is not on my list for dinner with a small portion of pasta and she said that's fine. I can eat healthy and she will be happy knowing that I'm eating fruit and veg. I will still take 2 bars and a shake per day. As it makes life easier for me when I'm on the beach. That way I only have to prepare my breakfast meal then I don't need to worry about rushing back to the room to make a shake. She was very surprised to hear that I won't be drinking alcohol on my holiday though. I've lost 5lbs this week which I should be very excited by but for some reason my mind keeps telling me it should have been a bigger loss..officially it's been 4 weeks on this diet and on 4th week I suppose 5lbs is quite good. Hopefully next week will be better as I will have finished totm
