Just found this thread... can anyone confirm whether this homemade Fry Light works and is Syn-free?

My partner has a soya allergy, and there's soya lecithin in Fry Light. :( It's a preservative. We don't want to go down the route of cooking meals separately so surely it would be okay to mix 50% sunflower oil with 50% water?

I remember on holiday in Greece one year (stick with it, it's not random witterings) we visited an ancient temple and the guide there explained that the ancient Greeks kept their water fresh by putting a layer of olive oil on top. So, why shouldn't an oil/water mixture work?
i was always informed that to make your own fry light obviously minus the preservatives you ise 1 part oil to 7 parts water i do that never had a prob i also put garlic or chilli on mine for pots i never syn it

Hi all I have tried using an online suggestion to make your own I did shake well and then spray using an old frylite bottle. The spray was very fine covered the cooker and the food and was no where near as good an outcome. Don't bother - have a great weekend all x
