How can I be in ketosis and not lose weight?

    I've been 10 st 7.5lbs since last Thursday. Everyday. Not up and not down. Each daily ketostick is showing pink. If I'm in ketosis then surely I'm fat burning...but why aren't I losing weight? Not even part of a pound.
    Not near TOTM so definately not retention. Need the loss to keep motivation up. Hmmmmmmmmph!

    You will be losing fat ... but probably retaining water (that's possible even if it's not TOTM).

    I've used this analogy before, but .... imagine holding 3lb of lard and standing on the scales. Hop off, put down the lard, pick up 2 large bottles of water and jump on again.

    Have you lost WEIGHT? Nope

    Have you lost FAT? Yep.

    Have faith - the numbers will soon start to drop to reflect the amount of fat you're burning :) In the meantime, keep glugging the water and any that you're holding on to will soon drop off too.

    Thanks RD that analogy really helped. It's hard to believe my body is putting in any effort to diet when the scales have stuck. I know I'm not eating anything I shouldn't and am rigidly sticking to 790 as of yellow book. I know I can't be breaking even at 790 calories input versus active output. I hope I'll be seeing a change soon.

    Wez,

    I am having a similer problem, although I am a lot heavier than you! I think I have come out of ketosis, I am starting to feel hungry, I am not cold anymore and I am not shifting any weight, not in the last 4 days. I am 110% sticking to this other than I am now having the water flavourins. I am stuck on what to do!

    Hi AG,
    Have you checked you're in ketosis using ketostix? You'll know for sure. My CDC suggested drinking more water to kick start system, lost 0.5 lbs more myself but may be a fluke. But it is sooo frustrating when you know you're sticking to it yet not seeing results.

    Wez it will come off .... some people lose weight slower than others - then wosh it comes off. Some weeks i would only lose a couple of pounds and be really disappointed then the following week I'd catch up and would always do my stone a month.

    Hang in there for another week - and I'm sure you'll soon be posting a great loss!
