I'm on day 3 now, so far so good, just wondered how can I keep a normal life?? I find myself shying away at lunctime at work. This Friday somebody is leaving, drinks after work, I'm trying to make excuses not to go there!

Any tips on HOW I CAN LIVE A NORMAL LIFE without going into total seclusion?:wave_cry:

Hiya Alcala!
If it's any consolation, I turned down lunch at the Nobu yesterday and The Ivy last week ( perk of the job!)
Yup, it can be hard especially if all your socialising revolves around meals.
I'm not sure if you are ssing or not, but I have one meal a day and 3 CD supplements. So for me it's just planning ahead ( Dinner v's lunch) to be honest, most of the time i am pleased i don't have to worry about cooking ( Coz i can't)
My suggestion to you would be to just pop along in the spirit of things and then leave early before you get tempted....so you look enigmatic. Take a CD supplement with you just in case!!
Sorry, that may not be very helpful...but I tried :)
Good luck

I know it might sound slightly mad....but the only thing you're not doing is putting food in your mouth.

I quite happily go to the pub...on the water of course, and go to lunch and have a coffee and don't order anything.

It really shouldn't be a problem if you don't make it one!!

Of course...there is the temptation....but its fun to test yourself, and if you want a normal life badly enough...you'll just do it and it'll be fine!!

promise....nothing bad happens if you go to the pub and don't drink!!

It's amazing how many excuses you can come up with if no-one knows you are SSing.

You could go out for the drinks, say you'll stick to soda water because you are driving/on antibiotics/have an upset stomach/have to get up early the next morning. I tried not to miss out on any event, but sometimes it was totally impossible and I had to duck out. When friends were going out for a birthday meal, I would join them after they had eaten - usually making an excuse about having something else planned before, not being able to get a babysitter, or some other excuse. There are ways around these social events but it takes a bit of planning - or should I say cunning, to make sure you don't miss out.

Having said all that, it is so worth it in the end. There will ALWAYS be Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, Weddings, Leaving Do's, Hen Nights etc etc, and missing out on one or two isn't the end of the world.

Keep strong, and well done so far hun.

You're so right Cheryl, hadnt thought like that before. You tend to just think about today and how 'hard done by' you feel at that moment - but you're right, we have the rest of our lives to eat out and enjoy a drink once we are slim :)

i read icemoose blog and he said," this isnt a prison, you can walk away " this gives me strength when i feel down trodden, nobody is forcing this on me,its what i want to do . at dinner i have soup and tell everyone im going out tonight so am saving calories .

Agreeing with what's been said, it is difficult BUT it is worth it, as Cheryl said there will always be occasions in the future when you can go out and drink, but for now you just have to focus on what's important to you. This weight loss journey is relatively short and you can enjoy looking forward to going out when you're slim. This is a great opportunity to lose weight quickly and not worth messing up for the sake of a couple of drinks or bite to eat.

You can do, stay strong and focussed & you'll be at goal before you know it :)

THANK YOU EVERYBODY for your GREATTTTT words of wisdom and sharing you situations with me! I'm on Day 3 of SS! I really want to do this cos I know it will be SOOOOOOOO worth it in the end.........an ex-boyfriend from Spain will be paying me a visit in September, I'd love to SHOCK him with the NEW ME!

But don't worry.....The CD is all about ME.....I wan't to do this and achieve a new ME for myself!

Just home from work now, walked into the kitchen to see somebody has just bought jam donuts.......I had to smell them, deliciousssss, then I ran upstairs and here I am on minimins! I have given orders to HIDE them away, so hopefully when I go downstairs they will have gone!
