how do you use your syns

hi all as im new im trying to work out what the best way to use my syns up.

my consultant told me to have as many syns as i weigh which is 12 as im 12st4 she then said if i wanted i can save them or use them daily. so far in 2 days ive used 1syn which means i upto now ive saved 23syns is that right???

im just wondering how you all use your syns and what you think works best.

any advice would be great.

hm the syn allowance is between 5-15 I use 15, and you shouldn't really carry them over as its about your daily amount - hope this helps and good luck x

Hello,

You should really use at least your 5 syns a day - and use these on whatever you fancy! A chocolate / sweet treat or some gravy with dinner. You can have anything you like :)

I normally have savoury things to go with my meals or a meringue for dessert.

I would recommend you look at the Food Diaries section above, as this should detail where people use syns...

I try to vary mine, but tend to use them on

Curly Wurly - 6 syns
Cous cous - packet couscous has 1.5 syns in
Cooking oil - 6 syns per tbsp
Crunchie - 9 syns
Smarties - 9 syns
Wine - 4 syns a small glass

but as i say, you can use them on normal food too - such as Yorkshire puddings and roasters with your sunday lunches!

I try to save mine for a wee drink (or five) at the weekend, i think it works better if you spread your syns evenly throughout the week but this way works for me xx

I use mine on eating out and drinking on a Friday or Saturday then keep them to a minimum during the week, i.e. less than 5 a day.

I have NEVER heard that calculation before!! The recommended daily syns are 5-15 per day & have at least 5 per day. Really would help if all consultants "sang from the same hymn sheet" huh!

I have a curly wurly 6 syns, and hot choc lite for bed 2 syns, kitkat 5.5.....gin and slim tonic 2.5.....extra bread, large wholemeal 800g loaf 5 syns....i try different ways to syn, i have 15 syns a day ...just enjoy i lose more when i have my syns...yummy

Usually mix a few extras with meals like adding cornflour to stock to make gravy, or having a spoon of ketchup with a bacon butty with crisps, chocolate, snacky things. Depends on my mood, just use them on whatever I fancy at the time to keep me happy! XXX

Oh, you want other ideas? :8855:

Flour in sauces
spread on bread,
real butter in your jacket potato,
skin on the chicken,
mayo in your sandwich
ketchup with your sw chips
honey/jam etc on toast,
extra milk when you finish your allowance,
choccy bar /crisps etc cos you fancy them,
biscuit with your tea
ready meal when you just can't cook
takeaway when you have ''earned it''
hot choc sachet
meringue under your yog/fruit for a low syn treaty pud
oh, and when someone else cooks, and you have no influence (like well meaning husbands and mother in laws ...)

Oh, and as others have said before me ... try to use 5 a day minimum, but anything up to 15 is good. By all means keep to 12 if you want to, but don't feel deprived! Using your syns is a way to stay on this plan long term :cool:

There is no 'best' way to use syns - just to learn to have a little of what YOU fancy - it really *does* do you good!
