How does pro points work?

everyone i kno that has been on SW have always come to WW and felt like it was better for them. iv never been on SWdiet so dont really kno how that works but WW is so easy and easy to stick to :) xx

Slow and steady...
For me the biggest difference between the two plans is this:
SW: You have to cook from scratch for every single meal, pre-packed jars/packets are simply too high syns to use properly
WW: Encourages you to eat healthy but allows you to use convience products.

The are both lifelong plans should you choose to make them. WW teaches you about portion control and what you should be eating... so when you get to goal you just keep it going.

Thanks stackhead..that makes sense..but how are things measured. Is everything you eat given a point value?...*

Ps..so would u say ww is better for those who dont really want to cook..? *

A Big YES!! I eat a ready meal day usually, or a pizza & microchips. I do cook, but i cant be bothered to cook all different meals for the family. And this way i get to eat what I love to eat, whereas hubby & kids arent too keen on my taste of food, they prefer rubbish! Only kidding but i have never been able to cook lasagne etc... and now i have a yummy meal every day with added veg or salad x

I followed SW a few years ago and i didn't think to be honest that it encoyraged me to eat healthily at all. It might just have been me and don't get me wrong i did lose weight on it but there was no portion control and you are liyerally told eat until you can eat no more. I have new to WW but i am enjoying it because it is teaching me to stop when i am full rather than keep going because it is free.

That is only my perception but i feel that WW fits in better with my family life and my partner is very supportive and i want him to stay that way. Plates and plates of pasta will eventually put him off.

Hi Linda, yes they do. The lowest value something can have is 0 (fruit and most vegetables mostly) so these you can fill up on and help bulk meals out. Everything else with a value about 0 is taken out of your daily (and weekly) allowance. You have to eat the daily amount (mine for example is 26 a day; I can have 26, 27 or more using from my weekly amount but not 25 a day).

Ive always felt WW gives me the best of both worlds. It absolutely encourages cooking from scratch but if youre on the go you can grab something like a pack of pre packed sandwiches and point them. Its much easier for socialising too, When Im on WW I always have my Eating Out Guide with me, I love that if I take my nieces out to KFC etc I can have something know EXACTLY how many points are in it and totally work it into my allowance for the day

I joined ww tonight. First day will be tommorrow. Ive never done it before and needed a fresh start/point of view..sorry for now sw. I do think the plan is brilliant and in the past i did lose 3.5 stone on it before my dad died. But i need more of the seargant major control of ww re limitations of portions having become an overeater...wish everyone ive spoken to on sw good luck. I will try ww and hopefully learn to have some control again... :)

I'm new to WW - first weigh in tonight! Eek!

I lost over 3 stone with SW a few years ago and I never felt hungry BUT it wasn't particularly healthy because my portions were still huge and if I feel off the wagon so to speak I really fell because the flexibilty with regards to ready meals snacks etc isn't there.

I am finding WW to be much more realistic and I am learning about portion control! My meals this week have been much smaller and guess what - I've only had one day where I felt hungry - and there are plenty of yummy WW snacks you can have for very little points (I highly recommend the caramel mallows only 1pp!)

Plus some of my fab SW meals are also low in points - you just can't eat a huge plateful!

Anyway after all that waffle I guess what I'm trying to say is I think that WW seems more sustainable on the long run and I've learnt so much this week about what I should eat and how much and honestly don't feel I've missed out - I have also exercised loads and earnt extra points.

Plus dont forget the new healthy and filling days which are very similar to SW so in effect u can mix and match!

Good luck with it xx

I'm starting ww pro points tomorrow too - I'll let you know how I get on. When I've to write down what I eat I end up obsessing about my next meal and I can't stop thinking about food. I tried pp for a month last year and ended up putting on 2lbs - it was not the way I wanted to go. They've changed the minimum limit to 26 pp instead of 29 so with a bit of will power and some motivation I hope to reach my goal by April. Fingers crossed!!! Best of luck to you too. If you need any pp recipies let me know, I have hundreds of them.
