Hello! It really depends on what diet your doing. Atkins is less than 20g carbs a day, idiot proof diet is less than 40g, neither of those have calorie counting. Vlcds like the one you came off are less than 60g a day and less than 800 cal.
I don't do either. I'm doing John briffa's which is basically primal eating - no wheat, grains, processed stuff, fruit and dairy in moderation, meat, fish, nuts, veg freely. I don't limit my calories but monitor them on my fitness pal and end up between 1600-2000 cals a day and between 30-60g carbs. Weight loss is slow, but I am losing, and it's done wonders for my energy levels and skin. Anyway, hope this helps!!!
