How to avoid weekend weight gain

LOL I like that!
Thing is I didnt even enjoy my pork pie TBH. so i wont be having one of those again in a hurry. Wierd how tastes changed - it was sooo salty!

Afternoon ladies - glad the post was helpful to some of you :).... I think we need to stick together on this one and anything we find that could be helpful should be shared :)

as for picking on anyone :)...nope I was just thinking about what the weekend usually involves when you're NOT on a diet, the pitfalls for when you ARE on a diet... and went searching for useful informations on both of those.... basically naughty food and alcohol....

for me alcohol is less of an issue though I do enjoy it very occasionally...but it's not my crutch like food is.... I'm the foodaholic or chocoholic :)

But I notice the same reasons given above as to why I tend to overindulge without real reason...

arguments, loneliness, boredom, giving in to naughtiness for the sake of being able to socialise with non-dieters....

perhaps as Jo mentioned we should all ask ourselves the following questions....

Instead of chocolate/alcohol/food when I'm lonely/bored/angry - what could I "do" instead?

emphasis being on "do" rather than "eat"/"drink"....

One thing I have used in the past with my cravings during my morning walk when I walk past baker's every 200m or so is say to myself "yes you can have some if you really want them, but first you walk to work as normal, have your cup of coffee and because you don't normally eat your muffins until 9.30am anyway, at 9.30am you can go and buy some croissants if you still want them."

Do I ever go back downstairs to buy some? Do I heck! Most impulsive buys are just that - made on impulse and eaten fast. Say that you can have them in half an hour? Chances are you don't want them in half an hour!

When I quit smoking, I remember reading with the Allan Carr book that a craving only lasts for 90 seconds... so you ONLY have to fight with yourself for 90 seconds... ok the next one might initially come in some 10 seconds after - particularly at the beginning of your quit - but when you think in those terms, it can work.

Fat I might be feeling right now, but had this tactic not worked for me many a morning, FATTER I would be!!

another great post. and what a good idea!!!! deffo one for me to try x

What's really tough here also is that first you see the baker's looming in the distance... head down, walk fast, exhale... you get past the invitingly open door and PILES of goodies on show... then, just as you inhale as you turn blue, you go past their air ventilation which smells even better than the opened baker's did!!

Ahhh this walking to work is filled with difficulties!!

mmm. smelling salts? BUT Jo look how good your willpower is if you arent going in!!!!

Last time I did go in, about five months ago now, to the nearest baker to the office, I bought 5 of each croissants, pains aux chocolats and pains aux raisins... and ate all... yes. ALL... in my defense, they were on offer: "5 for €I forget!"

now did you eat them at work in front of people? or hidden?

Hidden... turning my back each time I ate one!!

I don't think anyone COULD eat 15 things like that in front of anyone else!!

They're not even expensive - that's the worst of it! I'd spend far more on cigs each day!

15 Jo??? or five????

I think if we had to eat/drink everything in front of someone else our habits would change, what do you think?

FIFTEEN not five... yep! All for less than the price of two packs of cigs! lovely!!

Definitely... and so one of my main objectives, as a compulsive eater with an eating disorder (I prefer to keep that in the present tense, as alcoholics do even years after their last drink), is to eat in company. If I eat a cake WITH someone therefore it's ok. (if not on Dukan of course!!)...

Off in a mo... jellies to make! YUM!

mmm. enjoy your evening JO. Ill be burning calories :D
