I’m back again for the third time

I’m feeling much better mentally and I’ve been hammering the water. Thinking about it, I’ve not been great with the water this week and I’ve been having electrolyte tablets which have no sugar but have sweetener and I think they haven’t been helping my cravings. They are being put away now x

Gain of 2lb this week. It was much worse in the week so I’m pretty happy with that.

I was fasting yesterday but I got a migraine yesterday late afternoon and ate last night to see if it helped, it didn’t make a difference and it still hurts today😖 I’ll probably have a sw curry for lunch or early dinner today and fast afterwards until tomorrow or Wednesday as I’m already feeling hungry and I think I’ll struggle tonight if I try and fast now.

These last 4 weeks have been disappointing and I really need to kick back into gear. I know I can do this!

You CAN do this hun, but don't pressure yuourself, you have a lot to deal with that impacts hugely on how you feel, and how you eat as a result.

I know you're happy with the fasting approach for now, but I wonder if maybe trying a green veg, meat free diet, or something like that, might help with the migraines and pain? I'm probably being really boring, and you may have heard it all before many times, but I'm a big believer in eating to make myself feel healthier - so my pizza-laden eating for the last few weeks has definitely contributed to not sleeping well, getting boils (I get them from too many carbs), headaches and so on. I love spinach and other green veg, so am really getting back into them from today x

I agree that diet affects the way you feel but not much seems to help how I feel now I’m so unwell. I’ve tried so many different diets for my illness and pain and fasting seems to help the most, but even then it’s only a very small amount. I’ve tried (at different times lol) cutting out dairy, gluten, sugar, corn, cows milk, carbs, meat and there might be another one I’m forgetting. None of these made a difference except cutting sugar made me feel much worse (withdrawal I think but I couldn’t get through it it was that bad). I love vegetables but I can only eat what other people can make for me at the moment, that’s why my diet isn’t very varied for now. It needs to be easy and quick to make (microwave mainly). If I improve enough that I can make my own meals and do an online shop then the types of food I eat will change for the better.

I’ve figured out why I’m getting headaches. I’m trying Chinese medicine at the moment and I’m sure it’s that so I’ve halved the amount for now and I’ll see if that helps. I did say I’d try anything to get some improvement lol x
 
Charlotte you have been so ill that i am surprised you have been evenntrying to diet. But i understand completly that you feel it will help you feel better. Could you get advice from one of your health professionals on the best approach for you.
 
I just want some of my life back and if weighing less has a chance of helping then I’ll try it. If I was healthy I would be dieting and exercising anyway as this weight is out if control. GPs just say to eat healthy and don’t go much more into it than that but from what I’ve experienced in the years of being ill from doctors is to trust myself and do my own research as I’ve had more ideas of ways they can help me than they have x

I know they don’t like people using ‘doctor google’ but we’ve done an unimaginable amount of research on my illness and read research papers, studies and books from doctors and specialists from all over the world and we keep up to date on all new research and studies too. My GP is open to me making suggestions on medications to try so I’m quite lucky, some people don’t have the same opportunity.

I’d be happy to live a quite life where I could look after myself and be able to go out for a coffee with a friend or pop round to a family members house or something. Even just to be able to go out in the sun in the garden or have a hot shower would be brilliant.

I agree, it's great that you have a doctor who is open to new things. So often I've come out of a rushed "5 minutes is all you get" GP appointment clutching a prescription for something and wondering how on earth it was going to help! It's no wonder we all google to find other suggestions.

I've had massive improvements in health from herbal supplements over the last few years, and I'm very careful and read up a lot about their impact first. I swear by turmeric and black pepper, even make my own now, and oregano oil for respiratory benefits, plus hawthorn berry caps for heart health. Despite being morbidly obese I've got no signs of diabetes, my heart is fine and my BP has reduced significantly down to the top end of normal - so I know they work for me. I can't stand the way the pharma industry lobbies against herbal supplements, they are a bunch of money driven rip off artists who don't care in the least about giving third world countries out of date AIDS medication and so on.

I’m really pleased that you’ve got a few things that work well for you😃 I’ve tried so many supplements, herbs and things. I now use something new for a while and if it makes no difference then I cut it out, otherwise I end up being on so many tablets, capsules and powders that I don’t know what’s working for me. I can’t take oregano oil as I’m too sensitive for it and I get terrible tummy problems. I’ve had turmeric capsules before and there was a reason I had to stop but I can’t remember why lol. I’ve not had hawthorn berry but I have low blood pressure so I don’t think that’s suitable. My blood sugar is in the low end of normal. I’m very sensitive to some medications, I can come out in blisters and rashes when starting a new med. Supplements and herbs can cause tummy issues so some things I buy I only use for a couple of days and I have to stop. It’s still worth trying things though just in case. Since being ill I’ve tried hundreds, no exaggeration, hundreds of supplements, herbs, powders, prescription medications and otc meds. Not much has really helped but I’m still giving things a go lol.

When will they learn that there is a place for both! £££ is what they’re thinking of.

20 hour fast😃 I was going to eat earlier but I wasn’t hungry. I had sw chunky chilli beef and rice x
 
Hope you had a good day Charlotte, you are doing so well in spite of everything, I think you are a bloody inspiration tbh! You look so young too, it is such a shame that you are suffering at your age.
It does annoy me that in this day and age there are still such limits on what the medical world can do to help people such as yourself.

Afternoon all 😃

I tried a plant based diet for a little while but again that didn’t do anything for my symptoms. I love shows about different diets and things too. I find it very interesting and it’s great how many people benefit from trying different ways of eating. At the moment convenience is playing a big factor in my diet but I feel I’m getting by ok for now.

Thanks jacci☺️ I’m holding out for hope of a better life in the future and I’m trying all I can to help myself feel some relief. I should be trying a new medication next month so I feel I’ve got something to look forward to😃

This heat is a nightmare! I got my dad to bring down the other aircon unit a few days ago so I was ready for today and it’s really helping, just a shame about the noise lol. I’ve got the dehumidifier on the go too! It’s 22 degrees in here and I’m hoping that will be as high as it goes. I’m not looking forward to tonight though, I can’t sleep with the aircon on.

I have thought about getting fitted ones but the portable ones are very handy and seem to be doing the trick for now. With global warming I might change my mind in a couple of years though! X
 
An odd day today.

My ear and face on one side is sore and tender and my gland hurts and is swollen a little on that side. I also didn’t have enough sleep and I’ve got a small headache (it’s much better than it was though).

But...

I fasted all day yesterday and I’m feeling positive😃 I feel less bloated and I’m having quite a good day for me. I’m not hungry at all so I’m not sure when I’ll eat yet. I had a few moments yesterday where I’d go from not hungry to starving but before I could act on it it went lol. I think because I’d been snacking on carbs I needed a day to get through a bit if hunger to get back to this, to feeling like I’m in control. It’s a good feeling😃

I’m watching the cricket at the moment but I won’t be watching it all day. I might watch a film later, I’ve got so many on my Netflix list that I don’t have clue what one to go for lol.

Oh that is good to hear, Charlotte - being in control is indeed a good feeling! :)

I;m the same with Netflix - so many things to watch, it becomes a bit overwhelming lol. I watched Vera on ITV3 last night instead, love a bit of Brenda Blethyn - especially now I'm living close-ish to where they were filmed :).

It’s funny how in one day it can just switch like that. One night I’m snacking in bed, completely out of control and after 1 day of fasting I’m back to feeling like I can really do this! Now, if I can just stick to it that’ll be great😂 x
